POG Rally Update

Lots of questions swirling around, so let’s get some of it sorted out.

In order to do a more consistent job of pulling together our national or group sanctioned rallies, it has been decided that we should try to get a little more organized in determining the when and where of the POG rallies. As you can well imagine, these rallies are growing in size and the expectation of the POG members is growing as well. And since it is the desire of the POG members to have the industry leading rallies with respect to technical content, social activities and travel opportunities, we have decided to have a more dedicated group to interact with the membership and pull the rallies together. While it is anticipated that every member be able to opine on the rally variables and be involved to the level they wish, someone has to get this deal kicked off, so I have asked a group of the POG GUYS to get this member driven rally process underway.

Jon Wehrenberg, Roger Foster, Mike Anderson, Tom Chilcote and Jerry Winchester will begin the coordination effort for the next three rallies. These guys are familiar to most every POG member and if you have attended any of our functions, you will surely know how dedicated they are to the success of the POG group and the forum. And while it is anticipated that these POG members will take the necessary steps to see that the rallies are scheduled and planned in a manner that will allow the group plenty of time to block off travel dates and make their plans in advance, this will continue to be a group effort as had been the case with the countless national, specialty or mini rallies that have been successfully held over the last six plus years.

So the part everyone wants to know is, “Where and when are the next rallies?” While these guys will start posting details shortly, we will begin by saying the next three rallies will be;

Mark & Ken,

Osh Kosh and Hearthside are on. We are excited about this summer's event and felt we needed to add another in the fall.

I added the annual rally numerical number to Jim's post. Any other rally during the year would be considered a mini, but could be a mini on steroids like Hearthside may be.

Remember, anyone can start and organize a mini, all it takes is a little effort and they are big fun.

Jon Wehrenberg

We have seen throughout POG an almost universal desire for POG members to go to rallies. At the drop of a hat POG members will come together and sometimes an off the wall reason (such as to each oysters) is all it takes.

Any member, any time any where can post an invitation to a rally which we call mini rallies to differentiate them from POG rallies which have a schedule, agenda, sponsor participation, and seminars. These POG rallies were held twice a year, but lately have been bigger events held once a year. The mini rallies are held anytime.

For those who are looking for reasons to go somewhere in the coach keep setting up mini rallies which often are just gatherings of POG folks who enjoy the company of others they may have gotten to know on line, but have never had the chance to meet face to face. If you are new to POG don't hesitate if you have an idea for a mini rally. It can be for any reason such as the EAA Airventure, or because there is a neat place to go such as a high class RV park, or because a few POG members just want to get together.

OK no mini numbers....but I have an excuse sort of;
could be the bottle of La Crema that we got our nose into last night. Helped wash down 2- Kansas City USDA Prime strip steaks grilled, along with a baked potato (we split the potato, that waste line deal) and a small salad last night.
Yep, we drank the whole bottle.

Jim the dates for the fall meet at La Hacienda are to early for Canadiens that winter south to attend .
That would force us to come back before the end of march.

If the same dates in november where picked and it worked for everybody that would be great.

Thanks Bill Deans

Jerry Winchester

So what does that mean? First it means we have paid the $3700 deposit to reserve 75 spaces as a start. It also means don't call La Hacienda to reserve a spot. We have all the spaces in Section C, so when you sign up and pay (as eventually directed on the forum) you will get one of these sites and will be registered for all the associated activities.

If you call La Hacienda and reserve a spot, it will be somewhere else in the park and we won't know you are planning on going, so you won't get counted and A1 will get all twisted off. Instructions will be posted on how to sign up and a master list of attendees will be put up as well. However, many of you will want to come early and stay late, so we will let you know how to do that (if you want to stay in the same spot).

Also in the next month, things like the agenda, activity schedule, request for volunteers and sponsorships will also start showing up. As is the case with most worthwhile things, the amount of effort you put into it is directly proportional to the enjoyment you will get out of it. But since we cooked all the food and washed all the dishes at POG 1, I'm okay with letting someone else do some of that.

Let us know if you want to help.

Andre,

Tell Ann that I am working on an opportunity and venue for some 4 wheeling. We may have to make it a pre-rally event since most of the places are not open during the week and the few that I have called are not willing to open up during the week. Maybe we can get a informal count of folks that are interested to see what the demand is.

To all of you Poggers out there on your way to Austin!

In as much as Lucia and I were looking forward to meeting up with you over the 2011 Rally in Austin, we have to say we are so sorry that familial circumstances are prohibiting us from joining you this year.

We wish you have a wonderful and happy time, and we pray to be with you same time next year.

Having said that, to all of you passing our way on your way to or from Austin, we have 3-4 primitive spots on our yard and would LOVE to have you stop by for a night or two on your way there or on the flip side, and spend some quality time together.

Enclosed are photos of our latest guests on the way to Oshkosh, WI this year.

Hi Poggers,
Unfortunately, some family issues have come up and we won't be able to attend POG X in Austin. We were looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great time but that won't happen this year.
Does anybody know how to (and if we can) get a refund since we paid the first day? We'll miss being there but look forward to seeing the posted photos. Hope to see you next year and give us a call or stop by if you're in the neighborhood.

You may have noticed the change to the agenda for seminars. We have added James Wilson of Uii-Gii Technology Group to Thursday's 10:30 seminar. James and his partner Doug have extensive experience with luxury coaches and were formerly with Marathon Coach. They are experts in Crestron technology and audio visual systems. If you want to know more about your systems or upgrades to your current systems plan on attending their seminar and visiting with them throughout the rally.

Their web site is www.uii-gii.com

Just an observation now that we have arrived in Austin.

IT IS FREAKING HOT. AT LEAST 100 DEGREES. WHO DO WE TALK TO ABOUT LOWERING THE THERMOSTAT. sOMETHING IN THE SIXTIES WOULD BE NICE.

When Di washes the bus she is going to have to drink a lot of liquids.

The sheep are going to need shearing to keep cool.

The lake is a ditch filled with dust.

But the good news is the lady was real nice. She said no problem putting my extra days campsite charges on JDUB's credit card.

Everybody is too busy herding sheep and polishing coaches for the Bling contest.

There are a couple of guys trying to make a coach stop leaking air, but I think they are just looking for an excuse to drink Sam Adams.
