There's a used Headhunter pump on e-bay for 650.00. Don't know if that is a good price or not.

I think that is Alec's. He offered it here a while back.

:)

Yes, this is my pump. I have 2 extra ones, and I decided to sell one.
Even that it is used, it is perfect 100% working pump,

Alek

Do most people change out the two small pumps in favor of these headhunters? Are there any advantages/disadvantages of either over the other?

When my Headhunter pump failed I was offered the option of purchasing a new one from Headhunter at a 50% reduction from retail. At that time, last summer, retail was $1118. I returned a sticker proving I had the pump and soon received a brand new pump for just over $500.

We had a single pump in our coach. It wasn't a Headhunter, but was a large volume pump like a Headhunter. The only problem I saw was if that pump, the pump motor or the internal switches would fail we were without water unless connected to a city water supply. We added a second pump, a Shurflo for peace of mind.

If you have two pumps you have backup, but only if you are able to tell if one of the two has failed. If you have no way to determine when one of the two has failed you may be thinking you have redundancy, but will not realize you do not until the second one fails.

Purchase a new Mach 1 for $350.00 on Ebay about a year ago. Really a high output pump and quiet.
