My whistle ain't wistling like it should - Time for low Fat Oysters!

Anybody want to hit the Gulf the weekend of March 18th?"

Maybe check out Fairhope Al - Coastal Haven RV - Pete has been there - his comments were favorable. If not we can always go back to see Charlie in Mobile.

If we can get a few hungry bus owners together - I will contact them and see about spots.

And we should get a personal appearance by the Winchester Clan in the new OSU bus.

Post back to this thread if you got an interest. There will be no agenda, no meetings, just eating relaxing and lying.

I'm in and a different Park is OK with me.

Pete

Roger.. add us to the list. For anyone who has not visited Fairhope, it is very nice. They have a historic district with lots of antique shops ect. and a Wentzel's seafood restaurant, as well as other good places to eat.

Add us. We had a great time last year and look forward to a repeat. Sherry just last week fixed the last of those delicious shrimp that Daryl Graham so graciously gave us attendees last year, man were they good!!!!!!!!!!

Vita and I would be very interested! Also, I'd like to suggest Bella Terra or Heritage RV Resorts in Foley/Orange Beach as possible sites. Both are super nice!

We are in and I like the park change. BT and Heritage may be too far for the King to hang during oyster happy hour. We'll get there Friday afternoon and be wheels up for Houston around the same time on Saturday.

The Wintzell's location in Fairhope looks pretty sweet.

Great! Looks like we got some Oyster Takers/eaters. I will put in a call and see if they can accomodate 6 to 12 buses.

emmm emmm good!

Oyster eaters it appears the Coastal RV in Fairhope is full up March 16 thru March 20 - arts and crafts show in Fairhope taking place. NO ROOM for OYster eaters.

Anyone have experience with Rainbow RV Park in Summerdale, Al.??

I will contact BT and Heritage along with Rainbow. If we bomb out - I will call Charlie at Shady Acres. He is probably looking for us.

Weather is great at PSL +76 degrees today. Better than Chicago according to the owners of Liberty in the Windy City.

I vote for BT or Heritage.

Pete

Having never been to BT, we looked it up and it appears to be very nice! Our vote is Bella Terra.

Roger, Please add Betty and me to the list of potential attendees. We will probably travel in caravan with the Pete Petree's because I am certain it would improve my overall image. I would vote for wherever you and Pete feel is the best place. Let us know if we need to do anthing on the planning front.
Betty and I can always provide "Oysterita's" with our new Margaritaville machine Santa brought us. I have Loc's and Gary's recipe.
Thank you for your efforts.

Okay folks heres the plan:
March 17, 18 19, leave on the 20th Spots for 10 Buses now could add more, no problem. Call and make your own reservations please @35 bucks a night. They will try to keep us grouped together. Offered use of clubhouse if needed and offered a wine and cheese deal one afternoon, but most of the time we are full or going to eat???

Very nice folks and seemed anxious to have us gather round their place.

Please tell them you are "OYSTERFEST" POG folks.

Julie should get the message. If I can be of more assistance please let me know.

Bella Terra is a great choice for Oysterfest 2011! We've enjoyed visiting there several times in the past 2+ years! You'll find the amenities top notch and the staff accomodating and super friendly! We're excited to be going back there again! For anyone who needs/wants a break from oysters during the weekend, we highly recommend the world famous Lambert's Cafe in Foley, AL, "home of the throwed rolls". It's a unique experience not to be missed! The only downsides are that they are very, VERY crowded during peak meal times and they don't accept plastic (credit cards). http://www.throwedrolls.com

It will help Jdub's image if he hangs with us CC & Vision guys for a while.

Eric and Deb and Jay: Come on down and let Jay into those oysters.

My reservation is done for the snot ball fest!

Jon Wehrenberg
02-05-2011, 12:45 PM
What's the going price for snot balls?

Wintzels will not post the price beyond saying market price. On the wholesale side the prices I saw today were $18 for a bushel and that is about 250 oysters so by my calcualtions material cost is a little over $.07 each plus a shucking fee plus profits so they should go for $3.00 to $4.00 per doz.

I have stayed at Bella Terra twice, it's a great spot. There is a local restaurant called The Tin Top in my opinion they were better than Wintzels and the prices were more reasonable. They have the best Oysters that I have ever had.

As of Wednesday, 2/9 - we are up to 12 buses for Oysterfest! I guess we need to let Julie at Bella Terra know to reserve more spaces for oyster eaters! :D And with the rumor of Jim & Carol Trout's attendance - that would put us at lucky 13! Keep 'em comin'! :)

Still plenty of time to add more.

Come on, we still could get Bonnie & Don, Dale & Paulette, Eric, Debbie, & Jay, Sandy & Ed. Alek & Lucia plus who knows, Paul and Janice, Jamie and Debbie maybe need to get out of Florida for a weekend. That's 7 or 8 that have devoured oysters in past oysterfest with us.

:DEd and I will be attending the Fest. Have to be in Naples at Military Reunion for Ed on March 17th until 2pm that day. Will leave after and then head to Bella Terra. Probably will arrive on the 18th. Man...what miles to travel to be with POG family!!!! Might have to go over to Hollywood Casino after the oysterfest and camp for a few days just to make the trip justified. Too far to turn around and leave back for Key West on the 20th. Anyone else interested in going over to Hollywood for a few days??

And then there were 16! Okay - here's the updated confirmed attendee list as of Saturday, 02/12. (I included Dale & Paulette in the confirmed list as I have faith that they'll work it out to be there being so very close!) That puts us at 15 buses plus one plastic coach!

If it hadn't been in the what's new page we would not have known about this.. so I am guessing any one else like us who just checks periodically won't know anything about it ?? Larry - the thread should come up for anyone who clicks on the "New Posts" link at the top of the page if there have been any new posts since the last time they viewed the thread. If after clicking "New Posts" the thread doesn't appear - that means either 1.) there have been no more replies to the thread since the last time the member viewed it, or 2.) the "cookies" aren't working on their computer. If I had to rely on the search function here to find anything, I'd be s*#t out of luck! Reagan: Your's and Betty's offer is very generous and I am sure will be welcomed by all in attendance. I would be surprised if you get less than 100 percent participation. Oysterfest is somewhat spontaneous so "Oysterita" will fit in anywhere you would like.

As to your question about the program - there ain't one. It's just eating, relaxing, and lying. That's about it. We generally have sit down and shoot the breeze discussions, then eat, then relax.

The first "OysterFest" started as a stopover on the first Kerrville POG Rally for getting a few days of rest and allowing Jon and Micki to get their fill of Oysters and to meet up with Deb and Bob 00. I don't think you can fill Jon up but unfortunately Jon has prior family committments - so we will have to eat his share. We had such a good time, we have tried to have one or two a year since.

The POG Traveling Band sometimes entertains us and sometimes they don't. Then we eat and relax again.

Sometimes folks go sight seeing, read a book, or shopping then eat again. Then relax.

Sometimes we work on someones' bus if it's broken.

Its a tough(not) way to spend the weekend, but I/we have managed to pull it off several times. And lived to do it again.

Sometimes we get full up on oysters and will burn a steak at the last evening meal we are there. But sometimes we've eaten oysters then too.

This is my first visit to Bella Terra. It sounds nice and the pictures look good. Julie has offered to put together a wine and cheese thingy one evening, I told her that would be nice- but would wait and see what the turnout was and then decide about that. She also offered the use of a meeting room if needed. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough for all of us to enjoy the outdoors.

If you or someone feels we should have a potluck meal one evening - eating is a good thing- put the suggestion out there and see how many bites we get.

So come on down with expectations of doing nothing but enjoying yourself with us and the rest of the POG folks in attendance.

Reagan - even though Roger is the organizer/Master of Ceremonies for Oysterfest 2011, he appears to be a benevolent/non-autocratic leader! Why don't you just pick a day/time for Oysteritas, chips & salsa and tell us when to show up at the trough! :D As it gets closer to Oysterfest time, Julie at Bella Terra should be able to tell us the RV lot assignments (where each of us will be parked) and I'll try to post a list here, so that everyone knows where to find each other!

I just got a call from Courtney at Bella Terra to ask if there was anything they can do to help coordinate/arrange activities for Oysterfest and if there is anything we need to help insure its success! She floated an idea that she is checking into on her own on our behalf. Apparently Wintzels Oyster House http://www.wintzellsoysterhouse.com/ will cater a menu of our choosing right at the resort for a "per head" fixed cost. Courtney is checking into the available options for us to consider (if we even want to). She also said that they would help arrange any reservations, tickets, and group transportation to any retaurants, clubs, or area attractions/events we were interested in. She told me that the staff at Bella Terra is extremely excited about hosting Oysterfest 2011 and are ready to bend over backwards to insure that we have anything we need to gaurantee a good time is had by all in attendance! This is just one of the many reasons that Vita and I love Bella Terra!

"Ya'll come!" :D

We may be there. Have some things going on around that time, so I'm not sure yet. Don't know if I'm up to the long trip!

Dale - Courtney at Bella Terra says you haven't locked in your reservation yet as of today! It would be a tragic shame for a "local" to miss this event, so just bite the bullet, make the commitment, and call Bella Terra for your spot today! Don't make us come looking for you! :p

I just thought of this - for anyone on the fence about attending Oysterfest 2011 at Bella Terra in Gulf Shores/Foley, AL March 17-20, 2011: Bella Terra features a fabulous zero-entry, infinity-edge pool that is heated year round and a great Jacuzzi and sauna in the Grand clubhouse! Do yourself a favor and visit Bella Terra's website to see the complete list of outstanding amenities - http://www.bellaterrarvresort.com/ .

Michael, are you on their payroll?

Tom - it would seem that way, right? But no, there have been no inducements - we just love the place! We're just that way - when we find a place we love or a vendor who does an exceptoinally good job for us, we tend to "shout it from the mountaintop!"

JT,

You realize we couldn't all get in at Farihope so we will be near Foley at Bella Terra? And you'll need to call BT and make a reservation. Their number is further up the list somewhere.

And, welcome to the group. We can't be far apart since I keep my coach at the Hooks Airport.

Jon T & Barb:

Welcome to POG and glad to hear that you will be hanging out with us at Bella Terra. We certainly look forward to meeting with yall. We are gonna have a bunch of Texans there so you should feel right at home.

Be sure and contact Bella Terra Direct as they will siphon off your credit card number to seal the deal!

I will be needing to use it to get fuel as well - just kidding

Michael Terry is keeping up a list of attendees - so I am sure he will add your names to the list.

And again Welcome to POG.

Charles: Come on down - no Oyster eating is required to attend Oysterfest. Bring your own Baloney and Vienna Sausage or a can of sardines.

Many folks in the past have not indulged in consuming the slick little critters- rather they have opted for some exotic dish like fried fish or shrimp or scallops or clams or mussels or baked stuff.

All are welcome to come regardless of your food preference.

Truck: I know you are a transplanted Georgia boy now but no road kill please.

We are delighted to hear that you all have joined POG. You will absolutely love all the wonderful people in the organization. Our next get-together will be at Bella Terra in Foley, AL on March 17-20. We would love to have you all join us. You already know some of the folks who will be there through the Labor Day Beagle Bash in Kerrville. There is a list of the people who have signed up to attend on the website.
We apologize for not contacting you all after the Kerrville rally, but EJ's father was seriously ill in the hospital in Clear Creek, and she spent almost the entire Fall at her son's in Friendswood to be near her dad. He is doing very well now for a young 86 year old.
Hope you will consider going to the Oysterfest - you don't have to like oysters to come! Pete

Well it looks like after much aggravation and a lot of arm twisting, we bought Ken's 99 Marathon. Of course none of the arm twisting and aggravation was Ken's fault. His efforts and persistence in trying to make a deal work out and run smooth was worth the wait. This will be our first Prevost and it will be a good one for us to learn in. Lee is already handing me a list of honey-do's to change out so I'm sure you will be advising us with plenty of tips! We also are registered for our first POG event also. We are reserved in Bella Terra from 3-17-20 and am looking forward to meeting to everyone.

Done! Outstanding! This is shaping up to be a POG rally of substantial proportions! I hope there are enough "snot balls" in the area to keep up with the demand!

Cheryl just had surgery so she can’t attend but gave me the OK to go without her.
Looks like I will be #26 on the list. Will be coming over from Perry, be nice to meet some of the group.
Lots are starting to get farther from the group but at least it’s on the water.

I’m guessing we can’t see the e-mail link without being signed into your e-mail.
Sounds like Bella Terra, the surrounding area and the news media may be using the POG OysterFesters as publicity for the gulf oil spill recovery. I believe we will be treated exceptionally well as long as the sheep are left at home.

I then went to BT website and couldn't find anything. Last week I received their (BT) newsletter and it mentioned the "oysterfest" so maybe that is what Michael got. You may have to subscribe to the newsletter... ?? not sure... but we did get a mention in the newsletter.. Diane

Can you believe there are that many POG Folks showing up to eat oysters? With no Agenda? Could it be the loafing? or just to get out the winter crap? Must be the Oysters. Even for those that don't like oysters.

Maybe its the location---- whatever the case it looks like its gonna be an excellent turnout!

Great job of keeping an on going list of POG Oysterfest attendees.
One of the earlier lists included lot numbers.
Are you going to add lot numbers to the next list?

John - I do intend to update the attendee list complete with assigned lot numbers. I'm waiting for an updated list of lot assignments from Julie and Coutney at Bella Terra and expect to get that in the next few days. I'll update and post as soon as I receive it! I can't promise it will be the next attendee update - but I promise I will get it done! :D

Now the question should be, 'who's the official POG spokes person' for speaking with the Press. My vote is Roger.

It has been brought to my attention that there may be some confusion regarding which "Roger" is being drafted as Master of Ceremonies for Oysterfest 2011. To be clear, the intended MC is Roger Foster (rfoster), as opposed to the other Rodger (with a d), Rodger Hang (rahangman). Not that Rodger Hang wouldn't make a fine MC, but after all, Roger Foster is the one who got this whole 2011 version started! Okay Mr Foster - you have been drafted! Will you serve? :p

Mikey:

If Master of Ceremonies means that I can sit on my hind end with a plate of oysters in front of me, and a nice cold beverage on my right hand - with a lot of good friends and laughing alot- then I am in.

If the job description requires more than that- I would/will pass the torch. I already have all the responsibiilties that I care to have.

There was some talk early on about a catered event at BT. Is that happening? It would seem to me with a group this large, going out as a group will be difficult at best. This is our first official POG event, and I'd like to know a little more about what to expect. Obviously, this event revolves around food ( as most of my life does!). Do smaller groups head off in different directions? Does everyone just do their own thing? Regardless, I am sure this will be a great event, the people and the place will ensure that

John,

There will be many small groups going to eat at different times. As you mentioned, it is hard to coordinate such a large group. In the past, we went to Wintzells a few times, Mexican a few times, and a couple other local restaurants. I don't recall everyone going to one place (even with the smaller group) for the noon meal. We may have some camp fires where everyone sits around and talks and eats. We may have a night of food or deserts where everyone just brings what they want to. The whole idea of this particular function is to be "unorganized." There will be a lot of just "pulling up a chair" wherever you see a group starting to form.

John - Julie with Bella Tera is currently working on options for a catered oyster lunch event and will be getting back to me wih her findings in the next few days for me to present to the group via this forum. Unfortunately, she's already determined that the obvious local vendor of choice, Wintzel's, is booked/unavailable on our dates. Another option that looks promising right now is having a dedicated shucker on site at specific times for our exclusive use. This is my first Oysterfest, as well, but from what I can determine, it is loosely organized by design with a whole lot of hanging out with good friends, eating oysters (and other good food and drink), swapping bus stories and other lies, and partaking in impromptu activities and excursions with ad hoc groups of POGers as the mood strikes. There's even a strong rumor that Reagan Sirmons will be hosting an "Oysterita" happy hour at some point that may include Pete & EJ Petree's home made salsa and chips!

Check Roger Foster's post number 57 in this thread for more information and a brief history of Oysterfest!

I just heard from Courtney at Bella Terra and she is still working on activity options for our group. She has recommended a luncheon for Saturday, March 18th at the "Original Oyster House"

Here's a copy of the text from Courtney's e-mail:

Unfortunately, I have not been able to secure Wintzell’s for an on-site event b/c their off-site catering team is booked that weekend. Instead, I wanted to suggest that we reserve the banquet room at the Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores where your group can enjoy lunch on Saturday, March 18th @ 1pm. The restaurant is less than 10mins away & will allow your group to enjoy everything on their menu, which could be a plus for folks who don’t eat oysters. If you’d like to secure those reservations, please let me know & I’ll confirm. ffice:office" /><O:p></O:p>

I've checked out the website for the Original Oyster House and it looks good! http://www.originaloysterhouse.com/

Oysterfest attendees, please respond with your show of interest and I'll have Courtney lock this in once I get an idea of approxomately how many POGers to expect! And for those interested, I'm certain we could book a similar lunch/dinner at a Wintzell's location for another time during our rally.

Courtney thinks that she can secure some professional shuckers for an onsite oyster event for Friday lunch. The shuckers would provide crackers, cocktail sauce and French bread to accompany the oysters. It would be up to the group to provide any other food dishes we might want (pot luck style?). If we are interested in this option, we need to let Courtney know 1) how many of us would participate, 2) how many dozen oysters per person. Once I can supply her with the answers to those two questions, she will secure an accurate price per person for our approval and then we can lock it in, if there is interest.

What say you, Oysterfesters?

I know this is not a planned event type of rally but does 5 o'clock Friday sound like a good time for the Sirmons to host the "Oysteritas"? We would be pleased to do so at our site (where ever it is) or in the club house if there is a room.
That might give everyone time to enjoy some libations and make it to their dinner events. We will plan to provide the Oysteritas unless someone has a better time or idea. If others want to bring dips, etc., that can happen as well. Very best to everyone.

Having said that, we'll start off slow and see how it goes - we'll commit to a wimpy 2 dozen between us for the Friday onsite event, wash 'em down with Reagan's "Oysteritas" later that afternoon, and hopefully be connoisseurs by the time we do the OriginalOyster House on Saturday! :)

Courtney from Bella Terra called me this morning and acknowledged the mix-up with Jim & Carol Trout's reservation. She said that the active reservation is listed as Howard and Carol Trout and she's not sure why it's listed as Howard (unless that's the name the Trouts bill to?). At any rate, all is well and I have the Trout's lot assignment (204). I'll edit the post with the lot asignments and add Bill & Carol back to the list!

Courtney has secured our shucker for Friday lunch and is just waiting on me to tell her an estimated head count/ oyster count so she can secure pricing for our approval. Also, she has reserved the beautiful Bella Terra clubhouse for Reagan's Oysterita extravaganza Friday afternoon at 5:00PM and we will have full run of all facilities, use of their serving/kitchen/bar supplies and all we have to do in return is clean up after ourselves when we're done.

I should note that the clubhouse has a full state of the art audio/video system with huge screen, so if anyone has any DVD's or music they want screened/played for the group, bring them with!

Finally, Courtney is close to having the banquet room locked in for Saturday lunch at the Original Oyster House, so please let me know if you're in for that event. The Original Oyster House has a full menu of fabulous fresh seafood available, so non-oyster eaters will have plenty to choose from! See their menu at their website: http://www.originaloysterhouse.com/

I don't mean to be a pain and risk ruining the loosely organized chaos tradition of Oysterfest, but it would be a huge help to me if the attendees would respond to this thread with:

Your intentions to attend (or not) the Friday onsite oyster shucking event and how many dozen oysters you would like;
Your intentions to attend (or not) Reagan Sirmon's "Oysterita" happy hour extravaganza at the Bella Terra clubhouse complex Friday at 5:00PM; and
Your intentions to attend (or not) the Saturday luncheon at the Original Oyster House.
Thise responses already posted have been captured and are appreciated!

Your responses will help insure that these few activities/meals are scaled appropriately and that we have enough food, drink, seating provided. On the phone this mornig, Courtney convinced me that the staff at Bella Terra is genuinely excited about hosting Oysterfest 2011 and will do everything possible to make it a rally to remember!

Once you've made your reservation with Bella Terra, post here with your RSVP's for the three events we have planned so far - Friday on-site oyster shucking extravaganza, Friday Oysterita Happy Hour, & Saturday Original Oyster House luncheon (tell me how many will attend and how many dozen oysters you want for Friday) and I'll add you to the running lists.

Bill,
I'm skipping Perry for a few days at home with the Divine Ms. M. Couple of different ways to Gulf Shores but my favorite is to drop down to the Ga.- Fl. Parkway through Albany, to Thomasville, to Tallahassee and then west on 10. May not be the shortest but good road. Alternative is west through Fort Valley on Ga. 96 around Columbus, west on US 80 to I-85, then on to Montgomery and south on I-65. Personally, I would rather drive through South Georgia and hit the big meat market just north of Lake Blackshear, on your left going south. Can't miss it!

I thought I posted this earlier, but apparently I messed up somehow! (Surprise, surprise!) Anyway, I was notified today by Julie at Bella Terra that Dale and Paulette Farley have had to cancel their reservation for Oysterfest 2011. Julie couldn't say for sure, but was under the impression that the reason was illness of an immediate family member. Whatever the reason, the Farley's will be missed! I hope thart Dale or Paulette will see this and let us know what's going on and how we can help! Regardless, our collective thoughts and prayers will be with Dale & Paukette next week! If circumstances change/improve to allow them to attend after all - that would be fabulous!

Two for Winzell's for sure. They just opened one here in Pensacola but nothing like the original in downtown Mobile. Good times!

Michael -I am planning to leave Tampa mid AM on Wed, Wal Mart it somewhere in the panhandle Wed nite, and get to BT Thur AM - I will be caravaning with new owners, Lee and Doug Cox ( ledo). Notice I said I and not WE - Mel had previous committments that she couldn't break.

Looking forward to a great 'fest,

Ken

Ken - Vita and I are doing much the same thing - leaving Woodstock Wednesday night after Vita gets home from the office, driving until we get tired, WalMarting it somewhere along the way, and driving the final leg to Bella Terra Thursday morning, to arrive noon'ish. I'm sad that Melodie won't be joining us , but happy that you are!

Also, Courtney just notified me that Bella Terra has got Steve Cooper covered for all three nights, although he'll have to change lots for the third night. I've edited post #216 above to reflect the latest changes - the addition of Steve Cooper, the deletion of Melodie Robertson, and the deletion of the Farleys. This should be the final lot assignments for Oysterfest.

Let the debauchery begin! :D

Ken, the Walmart in Crestview is really crowded and hard to get in to. Lowes parking lot on this exit might be a better choice if you get that far west. DeFuniak Springs is not as bad. Marianna has several truckstops and a big WalMart. Feel free to call if I can help.

If memory (?) serves me right on the S side of I-10 at DeFuniak Springs there is a regional Winery that had a possible overnight spot! Hmmmm

I believe it's on the north side of the exit. Easily visible from the exit ramp.

Courtney Fox has invited all POG Oysterfest participants to attend Bella Terra's St Patrick's Day party to be held at the clubhouse on Thursday, March 17 starting at 5:00PM. Here's the details, as outlined by Courtney in her e-mail to me:

Speaking of parties, please remind your group via the forum that if they are checking in on Thursday, we hope they will join us for our St. Patrick’s Day party @ 5pm. An email w/ the week’s event schedule was emailed today…(did you get yours?) Some of our owners are providing Reuben sandwiches for the event & Bella Terra is donating a keg. Everyone else is asked to sign-up to bring an item. If your fellow POG members are interested in joining, please remind them to RSVP in advance & register a potluck item.

If you're interested in attending the party Thursday, call Courtney at (866) 417-2416 to RSVP and tell her what you'd like to bring. See you there!

I know a bunch of folks are already at Bella Terra so I here are a few of our favorite eating spots. By far, our favorite is Doc's on Canal Rd. in Orange Beach. Just over the toll bridge, and go east about three miles. Just past the light at 180.
Next best is Wolf Bay Lodge on County 20, just north of BT. New location but same family ownership. Some of the best seafood in the area and deviled eggs on the salad bar at lunch. Great gumbo too.
Another favorite is Jessie's in Magnolia Springs. Not fine dining but close. Still casual.
Shares a building with Moore's grocery which has a in-house butcher and select wines. Interesting.
There is a spot over in Bon Secour called the Tin Top that I haven't been to in a year or two but has been still getting a good crowd.
That should get you started.
Enjoy!

Wayne & Jill Frazior (wayne) recommend a restaurant called "Live Bait", which is owned by a friend of theirs and has two locations in the area. One of them is at the Wharf, a fabulous shopping and entertainment complex within minutes of Bella Terra. I'm told that the Wharf location features a wonderful Sunday brunch. Here's a link to the Live Bait website, so you can check it out for yourself if the mood strikes! http://www.livebaitrestaurant.com/home.asp

Below is an accounting of who owes what for the Friday oyster shucking extravaganza to be held at the Bella Terra clubhouse from 4:00PM to 6:00PM on Friday, March 18 (to dovetail into the fabulous Oysterita Happy Hour at 5:00PM). The "Owes" column is your cost if we make one lump sum payment as a group. The "Pay Individually" column is your cost if we pay the shuckers/Bella Terra individually and some or all use credit cards (the add-on represents an 8% accounting/handling/credit card fee). Remember, included in the the cost, Bella Terra is providing sodas, cocktail sauce, crackers, french bread, and all the set-ups (utensils, napkins, cups, ice, etc).

I haven't heard from anyone regarding your preference for handling the tab, but Vita, the doggies and I will be arriving at Bella Terra around noon'ish on Thursday and I can be available to collect your cash or check payments for your portions if you want to save a couple of bucks and pay as a group. Unless I hear otherwise, i'll assume you want to pay individually.

Please remember that Bella Terra is fronting the cost for getting the oysters and ancilary items for us, so please pay promptly and protect POG's good name/reputation!

Very nice martini bar at The Wharf, or at least there was last fall. Hard to know about anything at The Wharf since it's retail space is only about 20% occupied.

Michael and Vita, I seem to have unsuccessfully posted (or not) a reply yesterday about hoping there was still time to be included Friday and Saturday meals. I had a computer crash and the resulting purchase of a new one has me playing a game of catch-up on many fronts. I (Carol) will only need a dozen oysters and Jim is unable to partake. Sorry to be so late to the game. We'll see everyone Thursday (coming in from overnight in Henderson LA.)

Carol - I'm so glad you posted! I'll add you and Jim to all three Friday and Saturday meals/events (Friday onsite oyster extravaganza, Oysterita Happy Hour, and Saturday lunch at the Original Oyster House). Oddly enough, I had a feeling that we would need an extra dozen oysters or so for just such a reason and so I put Vita and I down for a dozen more than we actually wanted - so there's your dozen! :) I'll go back and edit the lists to reflect that you and Jim will be participating (previous posts). Also - don't forget the St Patrick's Day party at 5:00PM on Thursday hosted by Bella Terra - all POGer's are invited! Just RSVP to the Bella Terra staff at (866) 417-2416 and let them know you're coming to the party!

I decided to just make a new post of the updated activities lists rather than edit the previous posts and make everyone have to scroll back to search for them. Here are the latest lists of RSVP's for the Oysterfest events. Please check to confirm that I have accurately captured your wishes/intentions and let me know of any corrections that need to be made! And don't forget to RSVP directly to Bella Terra if you are planning to attend the St Patrick's Day party Thursday afternoon!

Does that help?

Then we have another place to send folks to. Wintzells or Wentzells ( not sure all of a sudden) is an Alabama tradition. Downtown on government street in Mobile; same location since 1935 I think. Road trip?
