I have a '92 Beaver Prevost and the generator uses the House battery ( or chassis ) to start with. Never had a problem with this setup but do you think I should redesign this setup?

If it ain't broke, why fix it? Do you have an autostart feature. If so, not sure where it would "measure". You want enough juice to be able to start the generator, even if your house batteries are getting low. I am assuming that is why in my setup I have a separate start battery.

Ray I must agree it has worked for 19 years. I have new batteries coming the current set have lasted 10 years. I put a auto start on a few years ago after coming home to find the batteries low from shore power loss. It is set to start generator when the voltage drops to 12.2. Seems to be working. I leave the bus plugged in to shore power and the inverters set to charge on and invert off (problem in past with inverter on draining batts) the inverter keeps the house and chassis systems charged.
