Yo, Kevin Erin did you mention something about Vintage stuff?

Is anyone else out there into restoring vintage campers?

We have 2, a 67 and a 73, no Airstreams, YET;)

Lew, We found this in Muskegan, Mich. On the way home, at a red light, a fly landed on the bottom of the windshield, outside. Ran that thing all the way up to 90MPH trying to shake it, it held on. Still had some throttle left!

Joe,

We have several vintage airstreams. The 1967 20 ft Globe Trotter in photo with 1969 Cadillac we did a frame on restoration. 367 We towed the airstream last summer to Springfield, Missouri for the once a year big airstream rally.

Hi Joe, and thanks Jon,

The photos above with the 1969 Cadillac with the 472 cid motor has 375 hp and 525 ft lbs of torque. The car currently has 101,000 miles on it and we are the 4th owners. Caddy orginally came from Tillamook Oregon by way of the cadillac dealer in Grants Pass. The combo we have named, "Caddy-Shack" gets 6-7 mpg towing, (not as good as our "H", 7-7.5) and has a 26 gallon gas tank. The numbers matching motor has been re-worked so we don't have to use premium gas.:) We also have a 1959 1979, and 2006 Airstream trailer. And at the POG II we towed (photo below) our 1997 Airstream B Van camper.

CB,
You guys have way too many toys. I'm jealous.

Joe,
I'm convinced, you're nuts. I'm not jealous. ;)

Mango,

It may look like fun, but on our return trip summer 2005 from Missouri, the cadillac dropped its timing chain in central (middle of nowhere) Kansas. Pictured is the cadillac atop the towtruck with the Airstream behind just after we arrive home. Tow bill $$$$.$$

Ouch.

At least the Airstream is still shiny :)

I sent you a PM after POG II.

Try again,

I almost bought a 1969 Vintage Air Stream about a year ago but decided against it until I sell 2 of my 3 buses at least. In the process of deciding however, I found two cool sites.

http://www.american-caravans.co.uk/airstreams-for-sale.html

The first one above is a UK company that imports a lot of them. They have some ultra cool trailers some of which have non original art deco interiors.

This site opened my eyes to how many other non Air Stream trailers are out there that are still considered collectable. Check out the photos of this one http://www.vintage-vacations.com/46_manor_frnt_kit.htm Makes my mouth water looking at that thing.

I guess us metal guys are attracted to shiny metal. Last year I had a need to replace an aging/deteriating cab over camper I used for years at our hunting camp. I looked for and found a Spartan trailer to restore. On inspection, every panel on it was beat up beyond repair. With the season approaching I was rushed into getting a more modern camp trailer to fill the need. The Spartan story is a must read. I'm not entirly sure that in the future my quest for restoreing a Spartan won't heat up again. Shh! don't tell Shirley. She already thinks the old guy is wigging out.
