We stay at the Rafter J Bar Ranch in Hill City and love it. You can't go wrong there. We've been to Elkhorn but prefer Rafter J for many reasons.

It may be bike friendly, but is it Jet Ranger friendly?

I've stayed in THE BIG R V Park in the town of Sturgis. Not in the same league as Elkhorn but it's close and convenient. Downside is the fine gravel unlit road up to the park site. The sites are gravel as well. There were a lot of big coaches, including Prevosts, but most have gone over to Elkhorn in the past three years.

I live just up the road from "Rec Springs" and I am not sure that they have hookups. On another note I operated an Agusta 109 Mk II around this area for 10 years. At 6000 ft field elevation it's sporty on a hot day! What about Glencoe just outside Sturgis? That is where Featherlite used to set up their demo coaches during rally. Seemed nice to me with all the trees. Heard a rumor that Elkhorn is getting 150 bucks a night when normally they get 48. More bikes up here this year than in many past years. If you stay at Rec Springs you are more than welcome to use my helipad! Cheers

Yea, Elkhorn is at $145.00 per night, plus all taxes, which include state sales tax, then hotel tax ( now thats a new one for RV sites ?) City sales tax, I looked all over at Elkhorn for a city and never could find it as we are in the middle of South Dakota farmland, and last but not forgotten Tourism tax, so that means I'm taxed on my bus as they believed it was a Greyhound. Anyway it is a excellent park with really AAA accommodations. If you have a stacker trailer interior roads and sites are extra large for bus and trailer to be completely parked on concrete with room to spare. Next year fee is $155.00
