Just was wondering if any POGers were coming to Lake Havasu City, AZ this weekend for Desert Storm? (Big, expensive off shore boats in a poker run, shoot out (who can go the fastest in a mile), races and a street fair with all the boats on display.)

Had alot of fun all five days. I'm a volunteer for Make A Wish Foundation and on Wens. we did Puttin On the Wish. Gave rides to Wish Kids from all over the state of AZ, kids in the Havasu for youth program and New Horizons (a home for mentally disabled adults). Over 200 people got a ride in 16 big fast off shore boats. Several of which were worth over one million. All of the drivers and their crews were great. This was all thru Platinum Power Boat Club out of Florida. Make A Wish Foundation is their charity of choice. On Friday night we had an auction, there were some crazy high bids. We raised alot of money. I've been working on this event for two to three months and it was really nice seeing it all come togeather. Desert Storm weekend has been a favorite event of ours for several years, Scott always takes vaca time off to attend, but I tell you the excitment those kids and their families had after they went for a ride was the best part. Bob Teague took several riders over 120mph. I think some of the moms and dads were more excited than the kids. Alot of work but totally worth it. JJ and I even got a ride at the end of the day. After he got back on the dock he was jumping up and down, it was pretty cute.

Cindy,
Glad to hear it all went well, sounds like it was alot of fun. We should all give more of ourselves for such worthy causes.
I can only imagine how excited JJ was over the ride!!!

Thanks Patrick, he was very excited. Are you two still going to go to CO this summer? We still are going.

6581This was the winner of the speed race, at 175 MPH, powered with twin turbine engines. I hear it cost 800 in fuel for the run!6582658365846585
