Does anyone know where to get replacement outdoor lights for a Featherlite coach? They are GM pickup cargo lights and according to GM they aren't available anymore. It would be nice to find an LED alternative.

GM doesn't make them but LMC Truck still has them. I purchased a couple of them and they seem OK to me. Go here: http://www.lmctruck.com/features/cc/CCLG1.htm p/n36-4498, $29.95 each.

I tried to post this a bit ago, don't know if it went through but here it is again. I bought some from LMC Truck for my CC but when I got them and put them on, the thin rubber gaskets that came with them would not let the light housing fit tight against the coach. The old gaskets were a thicker foam type that would seal the curved housing tight against the coach. Maybe a different year model light would have a flat back to fit against a flat surface. will ck into this.

They look just like what I have. It's too bad they don't have an led replacement for these at 29 dollars I don't think they would cost much more. The lenses on mine look bad and some of the bulb sockets are rusted to the point the bulbs are stuck.

You might check for a Ford part. I kknow that my side exteriors are Ford Truck bed lights.

Scott,

I replaced every lense and gasket on my Liberty with the GM parts from LMC thanks to Jim Keller. The clear lense was part #36-4251 at 5.95 each and the gasket was part #36-0510 at 2.95 each.

That's a good price. GM wants about 18 dollars for the lense alone.

Tom;

I have anywhere between 3 and 5 of the GMC Replacement part sets. I don't remember what it is about them that doesn't work, but they are not correct parts for a 1998 Vantare' Featrherlite. They were givien to me by Liberty because it is what they use. Ifremember correctly, I was able to use the gasket and the lens, maybe only the gasket. The housing was different (e.g., angle illumination) and the bulb was different (e.g. different wattage).

Dust Man,

I hear ya.. You would think the lense would be the same and maybe different gaskets because of the orientation as you pointed out. I know CC's are the same as Liberty. It sounds like Scott needs the entire assembly for some of his lights.

Scott - I'll send you a lense and gasket if you want to try, I kept a couple of my take-off's just in case.

Liberty has used the GM lights for many years. For the past few years they have been made in China, and are so bad that Liberty has had to replace many of them and the new ones go bad. Frank told me that he is working with someone in Florida to manufacture new lights that will be LED and will replace the existing GM junk. They are going to replace all of my cargo lights. They may have them available by now. You might want to check with Liberty as if you buy new GM lights, they will probably go bad shortly, if they work at all.

I ordered several rigid loop 9 led bulbs from Super Bright LED's at $ 5.95 each

GM has two different cargo lights for the early model trucks. The earliest of the two has a concave housing (i think it fits the 70's cabs with a rounded shape), the later which fits an 85 GM truck cab is straight (with no curvature) the lens is the same. I purchased 8 of them recently thru a friend who owns a body shop. Just make sure it is for an 85 model truck.

Sawdust, I will dig through my records and see if I can find one for you. I not, I will call my friend who got them for me. It may take a day or so, but I will give it a shot.

I would really pike to replace them with LEDs. My friend Tom in Jacksonville gave me this Number for replacement parts.
Yes there is a replacement lens I don't know the price. Call IBP bus parts in Apopka, Florida at 407 880 9700. I wasgoing to call them but I'd like to know about the LEDs first.

Mine sound like the 85 models. They are not concave just straight. If you want to send them I could give it a try. How do I give you my address? On here or you want to call me? Phone is 319-360-0962 Thanks, Scott

Pete, Thanks.

Just for info purposes, here is the part ## for the fixture with the curved back. -- GM # 16506612

Now that I have the fixture in front of me, I seem to recollect that the curve was problem #1.
The connector on the back was #2, if memory serves me correctly, it is different.
#3 The gasket did not fit very well. It could be made to work, but it did not fit like it "was made" for the job.

Also, the clear lens GMC part ## is 5969836

Sawdust, I am afraid I am not much help. I called my friend for the part number yesterday. Today he called me back and said they are in fact not available from GM. He did say that his supplier was checking with several of his contacts at GM to see if any gm store happens to have some on their shelves some where, and would let me know if some turned up from the search. Sorry, I thought I might be able to help.

Pete,

No worries. Thanks for trying. I am good for now and I am keeping my eyes open watching for a good replacement for these. One will raise up and stand out.
