As we were leaving M.D. Anderson this afternoon I get a call from Loc. He knows that today we were getting the first follow up C.T. Scan results since I started treatment seven weeks ago. He wanted to know what the doc had to say about my progress and I told him to get Courtenay and meet us at Trulucks at 6:30 and I would bring him up to speed.
After he agreed, I went ahead and gave him the good news. I really had no doubt that the drugs I am taking were killing my cancer. Still, we were all shocked when we saw how much progress I have made. Seven weeks in and the doc says that every single tumor in my liver and stomach has shrunken. Some by as much as 20% and that my liver is no longer swollen and aggravated looking. I had no idea how much anxiety I must have been walking around with. The relief I experienced was so huge that I really could not talk for a half hour. I kept trying to say "I'm going to live and not die" but just couldn't get the words out without breaking up.
Jan and I cannot express in words our appreciation for all your prayers and words of encouragement. True, I am at the finest cancer facility in the world, but without the prayers and support the wonderful news we got today would have never happened. So, we're off to a great start and have a ways to go. Please, continue to pray just as you have been. Your prayers are being heard and our God is going to fix me up better than ever.
Courtenay wasn't able to make dinner, but Loc, Jan and myself shared a couple of wonderful hours together tonight.
