Yuma, AZ RV Park

Can anyone recommend a RV park in Yuma, AZ for a weeks stay in a 45' bus. We've traveled through there many times but never stayed.

James, we are in Yuma now and I'm not real up to speed on the RV parks as we own our own lot in the foothills. I have a friend that may have room on his lot if your just looking for a place to camp with full hookups, let me know. You might also take a look at these:

We stayed a month last year at Del Pueblo. Very nice campground with an active community of snow birds during the winter. Not much to do around Yuma though.

Thanks, is Tonopah more interesting or just an enroute stop?

We loved Tonopah the campground is great and if you love hiking, biking, trails, or 4x4 this is a wonderful place. There is a hiking club that has a regular schedule during the winter.

Also check with Warren and see if they are going to have a mini rally at Lake Havasu. We had a great time and Warren was an outstanding host.

Also check with Ken and Janice and see if they are going to Quartsite and see if they are going to have a gathering again. We had a great time just leave the fire to their friend, Mary, she is the fire master.

Also if you are heading further south check our the post on Bisbee, AZ and we loved all the activities around Las Cruces, NM. It is all on the blog. Great travels.

Whaddya mean there is not much to do around Yuma? The snow birds head to Algodones (Los Algodones) about 15 miles away and get there chow boxes overhauled (teeth fixed, although this might be a leap of faith for most), their meds, new eyeglasses and a Margarita, all for less than 300.00. Lucky ones get a stainless steel front central, depends on how well one paid attention to the Rosseta Stone course, if your were good there may even be a wannabe diamond in there! Then there is the desert, walk, run, four wheel, whatever...lotsa ghost towns and other assorted odd things, just be sure to stay away from the open desert south of Yuma, that is the RAG (sorry, aviator term) that is the gun practice area for the Marine Corps Air Wing...not too good for those with a weaker heart. Do not want to wander in there without proper credentials as well as CBP (Border Patrol) loves to have one on ones with folks! Do not forget Lutes Chapel where many a Hollywood type (Stan Laurel comes to mind) got married way back when, also Lutes Casino, in old town Yuma where indegestion is the side effect from their famous hamburgers. What about El Golfo where they catch shrimp the size of Skiffer's Lobster...cheap and easy!

With the pilots bombing the south and the Army artillery blowing up the north and not needing any of the fine services south of the border we parked the bus and took the train back home to Georgia for the holidays. Glad you have found so many wonderful attractions. Maybe next time. Happy travels. See you soon someplace else.

Oh, there is much more.. but we (sort of) locals are sworn not to share! Your sonic booms was actually gunfire...big gun fire I might add. The Yuma Proving Ground tests all kinds of things for the US Army, unfortuantely they do not have anything nearby that is supersonic that flies, other than the projectial from the 40" canons!

This is the busiest year that I have seen in Yuma, it's dodgem cars out there....something about Dodge Dually's with a hitch for a fifth wheel and Farm Plates from Iowa and an 80 year old gaffer with an Iowan Two Button Suit (Bib Overalls) and new Mexican Glasses and a couple of Margarita's under his belt...if you get my drift.

One more minor correction from you site, by the way it is very, very good....that mass of metal that you mention to be the border with Mexico...Not So. That is a line to prevent the "runners" from ending up as collages on I-8...the border is beyond the power lines, a couple of thousand yards south...now equipped with fence.
