Are there any plans, in the early stages, for another WCWMR this year. We had a great time at Havasu last winter and, as we make our 'winter get away' plans, we wanted to leave room on the schedule for POG.

Hi Larry. There a plenty of choices. Las Vegas was mentioned a while back.
Its a matter of choosing dates as well. How about the end of January or the first week in Feb. Anyone?;)

Near the end of February would work better for us.

There were a number of us at Ken and Janet's house when Brian and Beverly came through. We discussed the possibility of a mini rally in Vegas in the February timeframe. January, some are going to Quartzite, and in March Ken and Mike will be spending the month in Indio.

So, February seemed reasonable. A possibility on the place is the ex-ORA, which is now owned by the lot owners. I think we have a new POGGER out there, who can perhaps get us a good deal?

Assuming Feburary and Vegas works for everyone, what time would be good?

PS: Also, last year a number of us got together over the week between Christmas and New Years. It turns out Pixar/Disney has given us the whole week this year off, so I'm looking to do something local during that week.

Anyone else game? I was kind of thinking heading perhaps up the coast toward Santa Barbara or Paso Robles, but I'm open to suggestions if anyone else would like to join in.

checking the NASCAR schedule, Feb 28th is Las Vegas. Good deals on RV spots might be harder to come by that weekend.

Pismo sounds good. Anyone got a dune buggy??

Put Janet and I down in pencil.

Sid Tuls
11-23-2009, 07:24 PM
John, I don't think Pismo Coast can handle that many 45' coaches. I have a hard time just getting 2 at a time. I don't remember how many we had at Lake Havasu. but I don't think pismo will work. There is a nice park in Paso Robles if thats an option.

Ray Davis
11-23-2009, 08:32 PM
Just so we're all on the same page, I was asking if anyone was interested in Paso Robles and vacinity for the week between Christmas and New Years. I'm in for Vegas in February, and it seems that we should stay away from the weekend of the 28th.

Feb 14th weekend is Presidents Day holidays, but I'm doubting that's a big concern.

So, in Feb, which sounds good. Weekend of 6-7, 13-14 or 20-21?

Ray

So, who do we talk to about reserving 15 or more sites in LV for Feb. on Presidents weekend or there abouts.
Regarding Christmas week, Buelltin has a park. Paso is nice as well.
Buelltin is close to a lot of wineries.

Ray Davis

We have a new POGGER out there. I'll try to contact him AND to contact the regular reservation department.

I'll try that tomorrow

Ray,

Christmas/New Years week...what about Chula Vista? Paso Robles is fine however the weather can turn South there at any moment after the 1st of November. I have to agree with Sid, Pismo Coast Village can get a bit tight plus they have become very proud of their park.

Ray Davis
11-24-2009, 04:07 PM
Chula Vista is fine. I was trying to go to somewhere I haven't been before. The three places which get lot's of local action are:

* Chula Vista
* Rancho California ORA
* Indio ORA

kind of in that order. I was hoping to try something new, but I hear you on the weather front.

Ray Davis
11-24-2009, 04:54 PM
So, I've done a couple of things.

1. I contacted Al Griefer at LV Motorcoach Resort (our new POGGER), and he was going to look into rates for us.

2. I called them (LV Motorcoach) directly and they indicated we can get a rally rate of 20% of posted rates + taxes. That equates to 39.20 for standard lot, $55.20 for premiere. There is also an "Amenities" lot which would run $71.20.

3. I called the Oasis RV Resort, and they have a more formal rally policy:

a. $35.00 per night
b. rally master slot is free
c. 10 coach minimum for this rate
d. rate good 2 days before and after rally days
e. They indicated we would all be put together.

LV Motorcoach: http://www.lasvegasmotorcoachresort.com/
Oasis: http://www.oasislasvegasrvresort.com

Anyone have a preference? Seems like the Oasis is a bit cheaper. I've been to the LV resort when it was ORA/Signature, and it's very nice, and Al lives there full-time (I think). Both places have availability for the weekend of the 13-14th.

We spent a week at LVMR this past month, and have visited there on two other occasions. It is a great place, and would be a super place to hold a large POG rally.

I took the liberty to ask if they could handle a rally with 60 plus coaches in October and they said they could. They have excellent meeting, kitchen, and bar facilities and said they would work with a group on the rates.
I would highly recommend this resort, and would suggest that POG hold a rally there.

I know there was a rally in Vegas a couple of years ago, but it is a great destination, with tons of things to do.

Louise and I are up for a Las Vegas rally. We love it out there. They owe me some money from the last trip.

If anyone is interested; I have a sure fire, guaranteed, fool proof gambling system. It works everytime. You can't lose!

All you have to do is bet opposite from the way I bet, then you are sure to win every time! Simple:D

Janet and I are up for Las Vegas. The earliest we could leave is on the 28th. New Years Eve in Vegas could be fun.

Tuga, you take the pass line, I'll take the don't pass and we'll win every roll!!

Ken

Ray Davis
11-25-2009, 06:06 PM
Ken, if you leave on Jan 28th, you'll be there 6 weeks early. We're talking primarily about the weekend of Feb 12-14.

So, speaking of Vegas, I received email from Al today, and a call from LVMR. They are happy to have us, and have enough space that we can be together. Plus, pretty much everyone that responded indicated they preferred LVMR.

The only potential issue is that there is an activity in the clubhouse on Saturday evening (Feb 13th), which is I think a valentines dance. We would be OK to go to this, however, normally we've tried to have a big pot-luck on Saturday of our mini-retreat weekends.

Rates would be about $40 per night, a I believe they would put us in their standard lot area. They would allow you to stay a couple of extra days on either side of our target dates.

So, the question is, "is the weekend of Feb 12-14" the one to do? There are no conflicts with the clubhouse the weekend prior or the weekend after.

Let's make a decision, and "get 'er done".

We're in for the weekend in Vegas in mid February. Let's join in the scheduled Valentine's dance at the clubhouse and then have our potluck on Friday evening. Also we are interested in joining Ray and whoever else is going north for Christmas week but can't commit definitely yet.

The February trip is for Vegas. I'm thinking February 12-14, although I think I'll arrive on Thursday Feb 11th.

Do these dates work for everyone. If so, let's get a list, and I'll confirm with ORA. I spoke to them last Friday, and they are simply waiting a confirmation from us.

Jim, the between Christmas and New Years trip is sorta planned to be somewhat north along the CA coast. Gary has suggested Buelton, but anywhere between there and Montery works for me.

OK, I've told the LVMR person that we will be having a mini-rally there the weekend of Feb 12-14. As it's currently standing, we are indicating an arrival on Feb 12th and departure on Feb 14th. HOWEVER, they will grant us the rally rate for a couple of days before or after the 12-14th dates. They are reserving 15 slots for us currently.

I have asked if we can have access to the room there on FRIDAY evening the 12th for a pot luck. I will have information tomorrow as to whether or not that is possible. There is a Valentines party on Saturday the 13th, and we are invited to attend if we'd like.

If you would like to attend, please do the following:

1. Let me know here. I am to have a final count by Jan 1st timeframe to them.

2. Call 866-897-9300, tell them you would like to make reservations and that you are with the Prevost Group. They should have both my name associated with it, and Al Griefer.

We can probably have more slots, but we would need to get reservations in quickly for that.

OK everyone, as mentioned we're on for the weekend of February 12-14. You may stay a couple days before or after at the rally rate, which is 20% off of their posted rates.

You MUST call and make your own reservations! Tell them you are with the POG group (perhaps ask for Paula). You have a choice of the higher priced lots, but they are putting most of us in the standard lots. Nicer lots may be further away from each other.

Still undecided, John. My wife informed me that we may need to remain flexible on this because our son may be home over that week (from Army).

I was planning on at least checking out the place that Gary mentioned, somewhere near Buelton? But, really at this point nothing in concrete. I would like to get away, if possible.

Last year, Jerry and Loc came out to Disneyland from TX. I haven't heard if anyone might be planning similarly this year.

Hi Ray,

Don't forget us! We'll be there, too, just don't have a reservation since we have a lot there.

I'm working on some other bus owners to join and attend also.

I know it'll probably be a hardship on some, but be aware that our parties at the Resort like the Valentine's dance usually include an open bar.:)

I spoke to my friend Martin the owner of Lazy Day's RV Wash in Las Vegas, (702) 371-0512. He realizes the importance of adding POG members to his client list and has offered a discount to the members at the Winter Rally,

Wash price reduced from $100 for 40ft, or $125 for 45ft to a flat rate of $90.00. just mention POG or my name for the discount.

He does a nice job, no scratches, and gives the bus a "lite" detail. Other services I have used,
1. Roof buffed with a soft compounded and heavy marine wax once a year, worth the $160.00.
2. Full hand wash and wax with Meguires and nice detail, about $300.00
3. He will tell you he is good on wheels, I beg to differ.
4. Tow wash is extra, about $20.00

You can make an appt. ahead of time, I have him doing the bus on the 11th and again before Nascar.

In case there is a space problem for the Rally we have cancelled our reservation. We are unable to attend and we are sorry to miss seeing everyone and meeting new folks. This is the second event in a row that we have missed and we are hopeful that we will be able to make the next POG function. Larry,

Really sorry to hear you wont be there. We look forward to seeing you at another one.

FYI, I stopped at the resort this Saturday while enroute to see the CES show. I did get copies of those who have reserved, and there are currently 20 reservations.

I will compare that to our list a bit later today (after work), and make sure everyone who indicated they are coming are indeed in the list. This doesn't include the 3-4 people who have lots in the resort and will join us.

Remember, Friday evening is the potluck. I am awaiting details about the Saturday evening Valentines party, for those who are interested in attending. Evidently from an email I received yesterday there are some changes happening. At this point I do not know if there is a cost, or if you must RSVP in advance. As I find out, I'll let everyone know.

Is anyone interested in forming a group and going to a show some evening or afternoon.

Does anyone want any specific "thing" to happen, like a discussion group?

I have a computer reader, and I can read codes for anyone who might like their DDEC codes read (assuming you have the newer round plug). I'd be happy to do this for anyone during this period. If you have a DDEC4 or perhaps newer DDEC3 I can download a report from the DDEC which provides a lot of info. Your DDEC has to have what they call "data pages" enabled for this feature to work. But, if it does, I can give you engine start times over last several months, run times, maximum speeds, mpg usage, panic stops etc. Very interesting info. At OKC, we learned that one bus had been driven at 95 mph by a previous owner!

Welcome to POG, Dan & Bob! Jump in, post early and often (like how they vote in Chicago) and have fun! Having been lurking since August, I'm sure you've gotten a feel for the personalities of the inmates here, so just join in any discussions or threads that peaks your interest. And ask questions - lots of questions! The braintrust loves to answer them and sometimes the answers are even correct! :p

Welcome D&B. Looks like a familiar Lib will be returning if you have the coach I think you have.

As you are now part of this asylum we call POG try to develop a thick skin. Especially from the folks who only wish they own a Liberty and who are constantly picking on those of us who own one.

If you have any questions ask them here and you will get an answer. Chances are if you ask enough questions sooner or later we will eventually even provide the correct answer.

HI Everyone,

I received a note from LVMCR regarding the Valentines party.

The party is on Saturday, Feb 13th, and we are invited. There is no cost to us. They will serve hors d'oevres and dinner. There will be an open bar, and most likely a band as well.

The would like to get a count from us as to how many might possibly attend, so they can plan our number into the food budget.

If you are thinking about attending, please let me know ASAP.

Secondly, there is a diner across the entrance street from the registration office. When I was their last Saturday it was open. I thought it might be fun to organize a breakfast one morning.

Anyone interested in doing a breakfast. Since many are coming Friday, I would suggest either Saturday or Sunday. I haven't yet talked to anyone at the diner, but will if there is interest.

Right outside the gate at LVMCR is a diner, called "DonKats Red and White Diner". Their website is http://donkatsdiner.com/

I spoke with one of the owners, Kathy, today and asked if they might be able to handle a group for breakfast one of the mornings during our stay.

They, of course, would love to have us. We can either, just come by whenever we'd like, or if we wanted to setup a time and possibly a fixed menu, they would give us a discount.

For example, normally a breakfast of 2 eggs, bacon, toast and coffee would be $8.00. They agreed to give us that for $5.00 if we commit in advance.

They suggested that they could also print up some 10% off coupons for us, for those that might want to eat there other times.

Menu looks great, and they include catering, should we maybe need something like that?

Anyway, I'd like to get a response and see how many might like to meet for breakfast, perhaps Saturday or Sunday morning? Saturday might be easier, as most people seem to be going to the Valentines party that night, and Sunday might be a little harder to get up!

Let me know.

Interesting think happened Tuesday morning. We were pulling out of state line on the way to the resort in Las Vegas and who rolls by us by Warren (Jello Jeep) Holm's. A few seconds later the phone rings, wanting us to stop and chat at Jean which we did.

I am not sure but I believe that Warren may have been on a recon mission. He might be working on a plan to prank us at the rally.

Thanks everyone, looks like we're going to have a great turnout. I'm going to suggest we make our POG breakfast on Saturday AM. For those interested, we can also do breakfast on Sunday on our own. I'm working with the owners to see what we can do about special pricing.

OK, let's plan on breakfast at 8AM on Saturday, Feb 12th. IF some want to head over for coffee a bit earlier, I think we can handle that!

I've notified LVMCR that almost everyone will be attending the valentines party.

I received some information on shows, but there are hundreds of shows in Vegas, at all price ranges. I'm going to suggest that we just network with each other, and perhaps some would like to group together to go do a show.

I had seen several of their music videos with various artists which I enjoyed and I guess I was expecting more.

To me their Vegas show seemed very dated and juvenile and I was very disappointed even though I was chosen to participate in one of their skits.

We should have gone to another of the Cirque de Soleil shows instead.

There is no rain in the 10 day forecast for Las Vegas during our schedule stay. Worst is 20% possibility on Thursday, heading to 0 % on Sunday. Wondering if anyone is attending the rally that might be traveling from the East? I am coming from Dallas and I am trying to decide if its better to take the southern route on Interstate 20 to 10 then through El Paso or going North to Int. 40 and possibly hitting poor weather(snow). I realize that I will be adding a few hours with the southern route however being a new Prevost owner, hense new driver, snow don't sound good!!!!!! Any ideas short of staying home:)?

Ray Davis
02-08-2010, 05:36 PM
Current weather forecast is for snow in Flagstaff on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday look to be good currently.

As you've indicated, it's about 2 hours longer via I-10, but you do stay a lot lower in elevation.

My take. If you are bold, I would venture that I-40 is generally cleared very fast in case of snow. I've never had a problem going through there, but, I've never gone through in February either.

But, as a new Prevost owner, take the southern route, enjoy the drive, and not worry about it. IT's only 10% longer that way, and it's fun to drive the coach!

Ray
