If the bulbs are 12 volt, you can find the replacement halogen bulbs at any hardware store (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) Mine are 20W, 12 volt which are the same as used in low voltage landscape lighting.

This only applies with 12 volt lighting of course....

I ordered the entire light from CC for just a little more than the cost of the bulbs. I know some of the other POG members did the same. This was before CC went out of business, so I am not sure what the price is now. In May 08, I paid $5.91 each for the entire light and cover.

There are many sources on the net including Ebay. If you shop around you can find a good deal. I just bought 100 ea. 12V 10W halogen for less than 40cents a piece from a vendor on Ebay.

Jamie, Drop down in wattage when you replace the bulbs. The original wattage is too strong and the covers become hot, overheat, warp and fall off when traveling down the road

Wallmart also sells the bulbs.

Anyone know if there is a replacement LED light for the halogen lights? I'd love to reduce the heat and power used by the halogen bulbs?

That's a great idea. The reduction in heat alone would be worth the effort.

We had a ceiling light cover glass explode this weekend. The pieces were extremely hot. The other lights were hot to the touch immediately after turning on. Has anyone found a LED replacement bulb for the halogen bulbs?

In reply to your question, I have been experimenting with a possible replacement for the halogen bulbs. I certainly agree with the halogen bulbs being very hot when in operation. Almost like mini "sun lamps". I purchased an assortment of LED bulbs to try. I have changed all the bulbs in the galley and will test them this summer. The halogen bulbs used in my Country Coach cast a "yellowish" light. I am assuming the existing "yellowish" color light is "warm white". I did not notice the yellowish color until I upgraded the galley lights to LEDs. The LED color temperature is different and produce a "cool white" cast of light.

I have not tried the warm white versions.

The pins on the back of the LED assemlies could be a little longer for my taste, but they seem to work and I have not come out of the socket since installation. The link below will lead to info on the LEDs I purchased.

The lights are very noticeably cooler. I have not tried to measure the temperature with a infared heat gun, but I will try that the next time I am in the bus barn. I have left the set on all night and the next day you could barely feel any heat. I have not tried them in the salon area which has "dimable" lights. So the ability to dim the LEDs is unknown.

I will have a firm response to this after my summer travels.

If you want to stick with Halogen's, I useds to buy them 50 at a time from 1000bulbs.com. Much cheaper then hardware or box stores. I don't like the fact that Halogen's are hot, inefficient and a bear to replace. Millennium just replaced all of my Halogens with LED lights. They are absolutely cool to the touch. Obviously very efficient and will last much longer then Halogen. And the dimmer still works.I didn't ask Nelson who his source is, but I did a search for LED Halogen G4 bulb replacement and found quite a few sources.

The ones Millennium used have 9 individual LED's inside and plug right into a G$ base, so you don't have to replace your fixture. They are offered in different color temperatures. He selected the ones closest to natural light.
