Flaming Gorge National Rec Area

We are planning a trip to Yellowstone, through Colorado, from Texas. My question is concerning the best view route around Flaming Gorge National Rec Area (on our route to Yellowstone.) My current route is on US-191 from the south, take HWY 44 West, then HWY 530 north to Green River. That route is around the west side of the Gorge.

Has any Poggers driven this route with bus and tow?

Is this the best scenic route to view Flaming Gorge (or is US-191 running on the east side of the Gorge?)

The route you have planned to the west of side of the lake gives you the best views of the lake. Either route is ok for your bus.
