Anyone ever heard of an entire Aquahot replacement? I've had a pestering coolant leak for a couple of months and through trial and error and multiple service visits, appear to have pinpointed the leak to the Aquahot system. Tom Johnson informed me that the leak appears to be coming from the copper coil and there is unfortunately no fix for this other than a full replacement. Estimated cost...$10k+. This is a 2005 coach.
My first question is how does a 4 year old copper hose spring a leak? Second, has anyone ever heard of this type of problem? Does this seem possible? Or am I the unlucky one in a million guy that has this problem?

Brad,
I think I would call Aquahot directly for a little consultation. I have to think you can buy the effected parts and put it together with your good parts for less than that.

Brad,
Look up busfixx.com and call at 888-287-3499 them before you spend a dime. Just get his opinion on it.
I had talked shop a few months ago and he really seems to want to save his customers money.
I just talked to him and have not done business with him.
I think his name was John

IMO the only way a 4yr old copper line would leak is either it was defective or it was installed wrong.

Try calling Vehicle Systems Inc aka AquaHot at 1-800-4298. Check to see if there has been a recall. Just a thought.

Here are a couple of links to check out. There is a parts section on the Aqua hot link.

Hello everyone. My name is Paul Branham and I have been lurking as I am interested in Prevost ownership, but currently still using my 4106 which I had converted in 1993. With that said, I can respond to Prevostbrad concerning his leaking Aquahot. Mine sprang a leak in 1997 from my inadequate winterizing, resulting in a split in the copper wrap around the tank. I drove from Springfield, Illinois to Vehicle Systems east of Denver. They removed the unit from the bus and I stayed at their facility as they stripped and re-wrapped the tank. Took all week and the charges were no higher than $1500 as I remember. I suggest you call Vehicle Systems for a quote. It's been fine ever since. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the feedback. After multiple calls and e-mails to AquaHot and Tom Johnson including an hour long visit today with the tech, the leak is not in the copper wrap. Apparently, the tank has a leak, presumably along a seam somewhere. This is by process of elimination as the unit still needs to be removed and even then we wont know the precise location of the leak since the tank is wrapped in copper piping so you can't even see the tank. There is a slim chance that it may be a lose/tight fitting but I don't believe I'm going to get that lucky. AquaHot's "replacement part" is a new system - tank, diesel burner, indicator panel, etc. for a grand total of approx $12,500 installed.
Are we having fun yet?
