I was trying to find some photos of Ernest Borgnine's old bus. He had a Beaver Prevost built and then a Country Coach.
Here is a youtube clip of him form a documentatary called "Ernest Borgnine on the Bus"

When I was searching for my first bus, this bus was for sale by Paul Davis. I came close to at least flying out to see it. It was a Beaver conversion, but the interesting thing (as I remember it), it had 4 big skylite windows in the coach. Like nothing I've ever seen.

I didn't see it in the video, however. Perhaps I'm confusing it with another coach? But, I did remember chatting with Paul Davis about the coach, and he gave me the names of the dealerships where it had been serviced etc. Spoke with service managers to get a feeling for the maintenance history on the bus.

I'll have to see if I still have any pictures from Paul Davis.

Joe, I remember it well, slapping that little guy on the but.

He was born January 24, 1917. That makes him 92.

 JIM :D

well if anybody runs across old Earnest bus and decides to buy it make sure you disinfect it real good. I was watching a program called Talk Soup. It's a show where they show clips from various talk shows and embarrassing moments. This is just a couple of months ago, and Earnest was on some morning show. The guy interviewing them asking what the secret was to looking so young as age. He leaned over into his ear and said "I masturbate a lot". I guess he didn't realize that the microphone clipped to his shirt were just as good when he leaned over even though the audience could not hear him.

Maybe somebody posted it on YouTube.

Anyway, that's what I know about Earnest besides remembering him from The Poseidon Adventure, The Dirty Dozen and of course I'm certain there's dozens if not hundreds of other credits to his name. But now we know what Earnest does in his spare time.

Ha ! I found it. That was easy. I just put his name in You Tube and it was the very first link that came up.

A fellow from Woodland, WA posting on PS has Enrie's old Beaver and yes it has 4 skylites in the roof, the same shower door as in the video. They say Enrie spent a lot of time in Bend with the build of the coach and spent millions on it at the time and that was in 1991. Ralph has owned it since 1993. I plan on visiting the guy early next month. I read were Ernie gave up driving his bus when he was 88 y/o. Figured he'd get sued big time if he had an accident at that age.

But, it was not a Beaver, it was a Country Coach! At least that's what the name plate on the rear stated. Same dash and over dash layout as our 93 CC.

Definitely a CC - several shots made that apparent.....

Ok, I admit, I am a nerd and watched most of the 50 min vid. Talk about a guy with a great attitude and a real people person, Borgnine is just that. He clearly loved the bus and touring the country in it.

Ted is correct as is my wife, I am "ate up" with the bus stuff.....:o

Gordon:
You are not alone, my wife often says "you are ate-up with that bus porn." After you get one it only gets better or worse depending on the point of view.
I will go fool around with the bus when stuff that needs to get done does not.

You are correct. There was another Beaver I was looking at, but indeed that video shows this was a CC. But, I do remember the 4 skylites. Never seen anything like it, before, or since ...

Florida luxury coach has a 89 Marathon that has skylights.

We have a huge smoked glass roof hatch, 16 by 16inches, in the kitchen but it is not a "skylight" per say.

The Marathon at Florida Luxury Coach has blinds that close off the sun when you don't want it. I do not have that but am going to try to incorporate that into our hatch

His first bus was a Beaver (1990 XL), but this bus in the 1997 video is a CCl, don't know the year.

Ray if you looked at it in 1993 it was the same bus. Ralph said his bus has the TBE on the shower door and had the "Sunbum" and art work on it, but Ernie said those were his logo's so it was painted over. Did you find your pictures?

I too watched the whole thing. I love the stories about who owns the bus and how long have you been driving for him. Another good one was why he took the part in "McHale's Navy".

I just re-watched the video, and I'm guessing that is NOT the bus I looked at. I *thought* it was a Beaver, and I remember the skylites, which don't appear to be in the bus in the video.

I would have likely been looking around a 1990 model bus, as that's what I was looking for in my first bus. I wouldn't have been looking at later models.

I wasn't able to locate any pictures, or even emails from Mr Olivers, but I had substantial dealings with them.

Oh well. I looked at a LOT of buses at that time, so the details are a bit unclear.

Ray the story is as I remember that coach in the video is a Country Coach, but he had a 1990 XL converted by Beaver before that. The owner of CC talked him out of the Beaver and he stay with them after that. His 1990 Beaver had the Skylite windows.

The Borgnines owned Beaver Bus #10. It currently resides in Washington State. It is one of four coaches we have identified that have the Astral windows or two pair of windows in the salon ceiling

I bought the used VHS on Amazon last year. I thought it fitting to play in the relic of a player built into my bedroom above the night stand. Real classic!
