I'm on a roll to get all the little stuff fixed on the bus since we're starting to use it more often and I don't want to let one problem after another turn into a junker.

Picutred are a rocker switch, the tiny German made bulbs (at least on the few spares I have) which are for the rocker witch lights, and finally the side market lights which I belive are 24 volt. I'm almost certain I obtained the lights from Prevost Parts prior but now I need more. Just wondering if it's worth it to get them elsehwere. For a few dollars more, probabley more convienient just to order from Prevost especially if I'm getting several things. I'm pretty sure the rocker switch I need (for the main headlights) needs to come from them. The switch works but the bulb burned itself into the plastic and I can't replace the bulb without getting a new switch.

The other picture if of a vent fan. I think these are Wonder Fans (??) but I'm not sure. I know they have a lifetime warranty but I'm not sure how to go about it. The gear is stripped in and the vent won't raise. Also, the controller (pictured) by Honeywell may or may not be the culprit for the 2nd problem with the unit. The motor won't stop whirling unless I take the fuee out. I THINK once a new motor (or a whole new fan) is in place, it cuts off when it reaches the end of it's travel but there' s no end to that travel with it stripped right now. I'm thinking of just buying a new one (think they are $200-$300 and) and fixing the other one later and just keeping as a spare or selling it. Haven't checked Ebay for one yet. Believe they are a standard size but I should probably get the same unit. This is on a 97 Royal if any other Royal owners know what I should buy as an exact replacement.

I'm including a picture of a thick insulator with a reflective coating I got at some RV supply place or maybe online. It's custom fit for the opening and in summer or winter it must help with the heat or cold. It fits really well if anyone hasn't seen these yet.

More pictures to follow in the next post. I think only 5 allowed per post.

Jeff,

I can comment on the fans. My coach uses Fantastic vent fans. Users of these fans can call Fantastic fan and receive any parts needed, free. At least, that has been my experience.

Concerning the thermostat pictured. My knowledge is the thermostat pictured is a Comfort Control Center and is normally used within a Dometic AC control system. The thermostat communicates on a serial buss to connected AC units. The zone is selectable and each AC unit has an electronic receiver board that receives the signals and interfaces to the AC unit. These units can be used with remote temperature sensors also. On my coach, I have a separate controller for the vent fans. Perhaps your converter interfaced your vent fans into the Comfort Control Center.

I hope others comment on this. I am interested in learning about the different variations.

Jeff, I just had to deal with the same problem on the fan, (mine is also a fantastic fan). It would not stop it's whurring sound. I took the cover off on the inside of the coach, removed the screen, and found the screw had come off of the lift mechanism. I replaced the screw and was good to go. The sound will continue because it can never activate the limit switch. Are you sure you do not have a seperate control for this fan? Is it in your bath room?

On the bulb replacement in the dash switch, I have a similar problem....... I have the replacement bulbs (from Prevost) but cannot figure out how to disassemble the switch to replace the bulb. I also need help on this!

I agree with Hector on the Thermostat you pictured, I think that is for your A/C units.

On my Royale the thermostat picture you have posted controls the A/C, heat from the aqua hot and the heat pumps in the A/C units. There is a different control for the Fantasic Fan. In the photo the thermostat is set for the A/C unit. Of course it seems no two Royales are the same.

First, thanks to Dale for getting them posted for me\

.......The first one I think I posted before and all the aqua hot pictures in fact. I found a great 2nd source for know how on these that sells parts (besides Mango Mikes expertise) and he I'll try to upload what he sent if I can or I'll email it to Mango and he can add it to his growing knowledge base. Really good trouble shooting stuff including a link the the service manual. Maybe many of you already have this.

The vent pictures were meant to ask someone "What brand of vent do I have" but I think almost all of us have Fantastic brands I've found out. Mine has a stripped worm screw, gear or something in the portion behind the knob on the 2nd photo. Need to call Fantastic to get free parts it's said.

In the 2nd set of photos, the first two show a pre-cut thick insulation piece with an radiant barrier on one side. These fit right into our square holes if you want to better insulate the bus from the vents in heat or cold.

The next picture if the Honeywell switch for the fans. I have two. I don't know why these aren't simple rocker switches. Do the thermastats actually work ? The tan thing next to it most will recognize as the remote thermostats for each zone. These work, but they each have a calibration of their own. Par for the course ???

The next one is a magnet to keep a Plexiglas door shut on the electrical panel. Sort of broke. Probably a hardware store item but anyone that can confirm, thank you.

The picture of the dash is meant to ask this question. I have dust behind the glass in the gauges. Has anyone taken these gauges apart to be able to dust the inside of the glass or just live with it. Not so bad. The round gauges I mean to say, not the square ones.

On Page 2 which should be the pictures just preceding this listing, is a bulb from the square blue switches on both the dash of the Royal Prevosts and they are also in the remote section in the rear bedroom and I think they are probably the same ones on the converter installed 12 volt breaker panel witches both in the front and the back (mine is 97 vintage). There's a part number on it I haven't tried Googling yet. The final picture is the thread that holds the day night shades together that I think I have a lead on getting.

Thank you Dale for posting these. Any help one where to get these bits and pieces appreciated.

After seeing the picture of the fan, it sure looks like a Fantastic to me.

Anybody have anything further on these parts ? I'm pretty sure I've got the Fantastic Fan and the bulbs figured out with the exception of the one single bulb that I need for the square blue buttons (converter added) in the front and rear of the bus. I don't think Prevost will have those but I know they have the side market bulbs and the rocker switch lights (I think).

Need the magnet though and also if any one has a comment on the Dometic controller starting to glitch and an opinion on the remote thermastat questions.

Is there a way to parse the POG site for Royal owners since I may get more focused answers on these questions from other owners with a similar vintage of Royals ?

I'm in need of replacement bulbs for the lights behind the small square switches (press on/press off) that control various components throughout the bus. Can anyone tell me from the picture the proper replacement bulb/part and recommend a source for these?

They are the square button switches on panels throughout the bus (like the one on the right side of the picture with four lit switches/buttons) that have labels like "Lights Master", "Bathroom Overhead Lights", "Gen Start", Gen Stop", etc. I haven't taken an accurate count yet, but I'd be surprised if I had less than 20 that I need to replace

Any help/advice would be most appreciated!!

Mike,

The bulbs are reached by taking the cover off of the switch. Take a pair of needle nose and carefully pull and wiggle back and forth just a little.

The bulbs are expensive for the size. I purchased way more than I needed but the price went up after so I'm told. I'll look tomorrow what number they are and how much I have in them.

Jeff,

I also have several 24v bulbs for the running side lites on the coach. do you still need them?

For your information, I am "part and parcile" getting rid of my coach. Anyone want the main frame?

Michael and Lew- Is this posting from Larry not the answer to the bulbs we need ?

Lew- I have about a half dozen of the side marker lights left, but thank you. I do need to keep a few more in stock but I'll probably just throw them in with the next Prevost Parts order.

Anyone ever find getting around the end of the bed a bit tight (non slide) ? I'd like to chain saw off 6" of my mattress but I think that will destroy it. The only thing I can think of is to get a memory foam mattress and cut it to fit to make a bit more walking room. Any other ideas ?

Jeff look in the back of FMCA mag. My folks had a small motorhome that had a 45 deg angle on one corner. I later saw an ad that could make them. What you want is not strange in the RV world.

Jeff, I'm sure that Bulbtown will have the switch light bulbs we need but I'm thinking that the correct replacement is going to have a plastic or glass wedge base similar to #558 or #3057K (based on Lew's description of pulling them out with needlenose pliers) versus the midget groove base on the #386.

Michael-

My old bulb that came out says #386 on it so I guess I should get that for the replacement. Yeah ?

Mike,

I was trying to tell you how to get the front cover off of the switch. The only way I can get the 386 bulb out is to use some very small needle nose again.

I stand (sit) corrected! I'll be double checking mine when I go to the bus lot tomorrow, but based on Lew's latest clarification post, it sounds like Jeff is correct! Thanks Lew and Jeff for keeping me straight! (Vita will tell you that it's damned near a full time job!) :D

I got off the phone with Dometic just now.

I got crossed information at first as to whether the 4 button unit I have was available as a replacement. At first, the burn out kid helping me said "Uh, yeah dude, you can still get those for $75". Great I thought. Turns out he hit the pipe once too many times this morning. No 4 button replacement. Someone here commented earlier that was the case and that IS the case.

5 button control, 1 new control board. Part Number: 3310009.000
Price: $240.00
Each additional power board is $111. You need one for each A/C and you need a frost control for each roof A/C which is $12.00.
630035 is the model of the A/C roof unit on my 97 Royal.

I'm going to wait and see how the cleaning of the controller unit comes out and try that first.

Any other Royal (or any at all) owners experience this annoying amount of dirt getting deposited from the exhaust points of the A/C's ? It's mucking up the head liner. I'm not going to try cleaning it again until I figure out how to stop it. I keep the filters clean and I believe I got on top of the bus 2 years ago and put new weather striping between the shroud where it mates up against the unit, yet I still have this very noticeable deposits.

Jeff, how do you know he had too many hits on a pipe. Are you an expert?

why does it have to be a pipe? Why not some wrapped weed. Come on, let's be as accurate as you can be.

I found the FMCA tech tip about the Dou-Therm thermostats. It is in the July 2007 FMCA magazine. The problem is little brass contacts get bent out of shape. One has to take the unit apart to access the contacts. Once one gets to the contacts there are two choices. One bend the contacts back to the correct shape or the contacts can be turned arround as each side is the same. One side is bent the other has never been used. The article states to do one cintact at a time. I have one that needs fixed but have not had the time to do it. Mine lasted 9 years so if I get 9 more years on the other side of the contact I may not have the bus.
As for the black at the A/C vents ours was bad when we first got the coach over 3 years ago. Now we keep the filtes clean and vacunm the roof once a week. Seems to keep the area clean. Have not found a cure for the black.

I need to get new decorative lights for inside the grab bar. There like the square ones on my coach around the window frames. I ordered them up before for the window lights but several years ago. Think the place that makes them up to your length is in Elkhart. Anyone know the name of the place ? If anyone has a running document they keep of all the suppliers like this I would be pleased to receive it. I'm starting to try to keep a list of suppliers but it never seems to be enough.
