Here is an electronic replacement for road flares.

http://www.powerflare.com/

I have used tons of regular flares over the years, they are a pain in the butt. An obvious fire hazard, and and you have to breathe the crap they produce when they burn, and you have to keep laying them out as they don't last long.

These little guys are electronic, no fumes, no fire hazard (even approved in explosive environments ).

They are an investment to buy up front, but after that you only have batteries.

They are also considerably smaller than a case or two of flares.

I bought five or six of these for the bus via a group buy from the wife's employer.

Law enforcement is switching to these, and they are a great idea.

I will bring these to LHC if you want to see them.

My fire department uses them on emergency scenes at night. Mainly for the landing zone for the air ambulance and traffic control.

I also carry them on my coach too, just in case. Try placing a plastic cone over them. They light the cone up real nice. You can adjust the patten of the strobes also.

I wonder if we could arrange a group purchase price. $50 is a bit steep, seeing how you would probably want 3-6 of them?

So, Warren, is this a good price?

They are expensive. I purchased them in a 6 pack kit for the rescue units for approx. $320.00 cdn.

The department has been using them for two years now. An expensive initial investment but we use them frequently and haven't had any battery issues, even in cold temperatures.

Maybe in a mass POG purchase, the costs could be reduced. and.........hey, this is how we could recognize other POG members by mounting on the front and back of the coach.

At night they will protect traffic and especially our coaches. They are so attractive I believe some one would stop a pick them up, if unsupervised.

I just bought a set of (3) for my bus, but I bought a different brand. I got them in last week, in fact.

The ones I bought I believe are the original model, cause I bought a set for my brother-in-law 10 years ago. The ones I bought are called "TurboFlare 360" http://www.turboflareusa.com/.

I purchased a set of (3) in a plastic container from TruckersMall.net and paid including shipping $69.90 http://www.truckersmall.net/360turboflare.html

This is another option for you to look at. LIFETIME GUARANTEE!

Its an OK price.

Their main audience is governmental agencies and high end users, so I doubt you will find "Walmart" pricing anywhere..

The cool setup is orange cases with amber/red LEDs.

They say they are out now, but will get more in.

So, Warren, is this a good price?

Yet another case of LED's leading the charge in technology.

Que Brillo Boy and Jon for their ritual, "incandescent light and heat" lecture.....

I have no issue with LED lights. I have issues with replacing perfectly good fully functional incandescent lighting with LEDs just to keep up with sheep rustlers.

It's kind of like the adage if it won't go, chrome it.

I did note however that after three of the biggest promoters of LEDs tricked out their rides, all three dumped them in favor of new coaches, and not a single one of the LED proponents has spent even more Lewbucks to dress up the new coaches.

Must be LEDs aren't that important.

My new coach came with LEDs and I am sure the King and MM are in the same boat.

But if it makes you feel better, Prevost has some new side marker lights that have 8 LEDs in them instead of the 4 used in the 2001 vintage coaches, so I have ordered replacements since I want to stay on the "foreskin of technology".

However, I doubt they will look as good as the LEDs on your new Corvette.
