I just got a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and need the equipment to make into a toad. I asked the dealership, but they told me they don't have anything for it, and suggested I try the Dodge dealership being they sell heavier vehicals. There was a guest here at the KOA and he had a '02 with the right stuff, he said he got it from the dealership, he of course left before I got the chance to get the details from him. So I'm looking for recomendations on what to get, and where.

Geoff if you want to save a few bucks I just left The Great Outdoors in Titusville and there is an RV service center there called Eagles Pride with a very large selection of used tow bars for sale.

Geoff, call around to the RV dealers in your area. These folks are the ones who do the majority of towing installations. Roadmaster or Blue Ox are both good. Have a company that does these instals on a regular basis do the work. The base plate on your new Jeep needs to be installed by someone who knows what they are doing. Have them do the lights at the same time. Look at the links below and get some knowledge of what's available so when you are ready to do the deal you won't get screwed. Enjoy the Jeep, they are a great tow vehicle.

Geoff, Make sure you combine a brake setup for your Jeep Grand Cherokee. SMI is a POG sponsor (http://www.smibrake.com/) so you might want to check them out 1st. There are other reliable manufacturers and I am sure you will get other suggestions. :)

Good Luck!

Geoff, I tow an 05 Grand Cherokee and a 99 Jeep Wrangler (not at the same time) and use the M&G brake system on both. The installation is very simple, and only requires an air line using quick disconnect fittings between your tow car and your coach and you are good to go. Check out the M&G before you buy.
