View Full Version : Oysterfest........

Jon Wehrenberg
12-25-2008, 11:03 AM
Since Roger raised the question completely inappropriately on an unrelated thread I decided to initiate a new thread in the proper place.

I have been ready for another oysterfest since one or two days after the last one, so here's everybody's chance to see if another one is about to happen.

I haven't been able to pin anything down for us because pilots n paws had a schedule that was unclear for April. We now are locked into 4/19 to about 4/28 to do the Sun'n Fun fly in in Lakeland FL.

That means if I was to attend an oysterfest it needs to be mid to late March. Any ideas?

Joe Cannarozzi

Yes Jon I have a suggestion you need to buy that place and put in a runway and plant a garden that would give you all you crave all in one spot.

How about late March, getting nice and warm then...

Jon Wehrenberg

Works for me. Who wants to pin down a set of dates and warn Charlie the rowdies are returning?

rfoster

How about something like 3/18 thru 3/22.

I/we have kids and gran kids birthdays to attend to on 3/12 and 3/28. I don't need the grief if I miss them and I like cake.

Jon Wehrenberg

We're in.......Can we consider that the dates? I'm ready to make reservations.

I just emailed Charlie and told him to put our name on a space.

We're looking forward to it. I have about 100 cubic yards of mulch to spread on the hill before we go and I expect I will be ready to relax when the time comes.

Bring on those slimy raw oysters.

So far I think the folks going are Roger and Micki, Tom and Nancy, Eric, Debbie and Jay, Dan and Jo, and Di and I. Anyone else?

I came back from Florida and woke up to 12 degrees yesterday with snow in the forecast for Thursday.

Cold weather sucks!

Roger, we arrived home this afternoon about 1PM - 82 degrees and cloudy and windy. Hope to see you guys in Mobile.

Since Roger raised the question completely inappropriately on an unrelated thread I decided to initiate a new thread in the proper place.

And since when have you concerned yourself with having the threads and the subjects line up? I thought you had taken Lew's place in the "Everyone's posting on this thread so they must all be in here so I'll post" group.

Roger must have run out of Viagra to be heading out for another oyster gorgefest so soon.

Yes, Ed and I have been lurking for awhile now. Hello everyone!!
Count Ed and I in. Already have talked to Charlie at Shady Oaks and got the OK. See you all there on the 18th. Don't forget to bring the musical instruments. Charlie is setting up stage for POG's own "Touring/Traveling Band". Oh, Thank you Dan & Jo for contacting us to get on the ball with the POG event.

I am little bit concerned about Oysterfest. Jdub is reporting in from the Gulf Shores, Alabama / Perdido Key, Fl. area and he eats alot. I also heard of some other POG folks in that area consuming oysters and such.

I am not able to arrive until Wed pm and I sure hope that Jdub hasn't consumed them all.

Jdub: Save some for us late comers.

Alek & Lucia, I don't see on your datastorm that your bus has moved out of Putnam county. What's up??? Ed and I are hopefully getting there on Wed. We leave Key West tomorrow after church and head for Cochran, GA where the bus is winterized. Take care of that matter and then head down to Mobile hopefully on Wed. Sure hope things go well with de-winterizing it. Never done it before. Sandy

Have a safe trip down. Call us while in route. Are you coming down I-75 at all?

Jon Wehrenberg
03-15-2009, 08:45 AM
A small portion of the East Tennessee division of POG will be heading south on St. Patrick's day, with a probable arrival late afternoon.

If the representative from the great state of Illinois wishes we can plan on beginning our oyster gluttony by visiting Miss Pinky that evening. (Miss Pinky is our designated server at Wintzells)

BTW, when you turn the corner (a RH turn) onto Old Military Road, unless you time it right the cars will not cut you a break. Do not let them force you to keep to the right because there is a sign right at the corner that will do serious damage to a paint job. If your rear wheels have to go up onto the curb you may damage the coach. Beware.........

dale farley
03-15-2009, 09:39 AM
To add to what Jon just said; if you see there are cars in the way when you start to turn, you can go on down the road 1 mile, turn around at a shopping certer and come back the other way. Most of us didn't have a problem last time, but the corner may be conjested.

Jerry Winchester

Roger,

We had oysters in Slidell and Magnolia Springs so far and will probably hit them in Gulf Shores this afternoon but I understand the the Trukman doesn't do "those slimey boogers" so there should be enough to go around.

I told him is was just like choking a flim ball down...........

Wish we were Tuga--that empty chair next to Di was saved for me, or maybe Bob? Someone has to stay home and get ready for the Tradeshow we are headed to for Pilots N Paws. Jon did not get the memo:p

Just kidding, we would love to be there, just too much happening here at the farm to leave for now. My family are coming from Ohio for two weeks so my guess is if Oysterfest is still going on, you will eventually see Bob there! Maybe we can all make the next one.

Anyone headed to Florida in April? 20-27th? We will be staying in Lakeland at the Sanlon RV Park and working the Pilots N Paws booth at the Sun N Fun air show everyday. Would love to have fellow POGGERS to visit with!!

How is everything at the Jon W eatfest???

We are in Destin @ Camping on the Gulf... Great location but "pricey". I could stay with Charlie in Mobile for about six months for what this place costs for a week.

I "volunteered" to take my son & some buddies down here for their spring break???? So far so well.......... First day though???

Alek & Lucia -

Vita and I are in Woodstock, too! We live in Towne Lake, about 5 miles or so from your current location (according to Datastorm). We just returned yesterday from a short bus trip down to Columbus, GA to see our son and support his efforts at a fund-raiser for the sick child of one of his co-workers. It's been a messy (rainy) weekend to be on the road travelling, but we're home safe & sound now - ready for the next adventure!

For the record - Woodstock is really a great place to live - big city amenities (proximity to Atlanta) with a small town/country living feel. We love it here!

Hope you enjoy your stay! "Holler" if you want to get together and compare buses while you're here!

Best,

They weren't in the archive, they were in the backlog. We got caught short on technology to handle out ability to do the basic cataloging and organization of our photos. We are beginning to get the issue beat back into shape.

I have some from other functions I will try to get posted in their appropriate places.

What's a slack adjuster? Slacks is another word for a pair of pants, so is a slack one leg? When I adjust my slacks I suck in my stomach and pull them up. But I have never polished my pants or noticed they were tarnished.

polish - transitive verb to remove the outer layers of brown rice to make white rice by rotating the grain in a drum.

Jon:

Slack - productive potential in an person, organization or system that is not being fully made use of --- If the slack fits, no need to adjust it!!:D
