Wmm,

When I saw the cost of an LED light assembly compared to the cost of a new light bulb I figured the savings alone would pay for at least one new tire.

But there are some folks here trying hard to get the bling award, so I'm sitting back letting them break their budget while I have just about got it locked up because I used part of the money I saved to bribe the 85 year old judge.

Don't let the LED wannabes exert any influence on you.

B&J,

Don't let ol' grumpy pants keep you from LED happiness. You will be very pleased with the results.

I ordered mine from IBP just like Mike says in the link. When you change them out, order some of those rubber inserts with the thread in the center. They push thru the hole in the stainless steel and the screw from the light goes in the hole.

You will have some of these that are wore or torn, so about 6 should get you through the project without a delay and they are pretty inexpensive. Tell the IBP guy what you are looking for and he knows what they call them.

Misery loves company. Jerry is trying to suck you into needlessly spending your money. He and Mango lit up their LED display for me down in Polk City, and I never even noticed.

I'm surprised they haven't given you a link to get some spinner hubcaps to go along with the LED lights.

B&J,

Don't be fooled. He didn't notice because he was asleep in his chair with the TV on. When we cranked up the laser spot light and flooded the front of his coach with light, he jumped to the task turning on every bulb he had.

And while his ancient bulbs were oozing on and off like an old man pissing in a urinal, Mike and I were sharp and brisk with LEDs a flashing and gators jumping into the water.

While I am sure Jon would rather JB weld some candle holders to the outside of his coach, I am sure his wife won't help him keep them lit, so fret not and join the blingsters for some LED fun.

What are the options for the upper markers front and rear. What about the front turns? Sure would be cheaper and a lot more variaty to choose from if they were 12volt? Just seems sensible to me. I probably wouldnt consider it on a new bus but ours is 21yrs old. I got a million other things to do. Theres volumes of styles to choose from though! Might make a nice project for one of those sunny January lazy afternoons, with some help from the blender!

Let me let you Jon bashers in on a secret.

Jon asked a long time ago to find him some 22" spinners the Bling crowd uses. I finally found the web site at www.excessspin.com The phone # is 1-866-894-3351. They are awaiting your call Jon.

Sorry to bust your beans Jon. You engineers are a strange bunch.

Joe,

I have only replaced the side marker and all the tail / stop lights with LED's at this point. I have a test LED front marker to try and I will probably change out every bulb on the coach except the head lights.

I have all the old bulbs and will mail them to Jon one a day for a quarter.

Bill,
Don't let them suck you in, stay on the dark side! Once you go LED you devalue your bus and Roger will be standing by with a check to quickly turn your bus for some nice Lew bucks. If your not careful, the LED weenies will have you parting with the Harley for a Goldwing with ring-of-fire LED's on the front wheel.:D

By the way, that wasn't Jody with the 357 Magnum Ken was telling us about, was it?

Bill, everybody on the LED side of this discussion has failed to point out some of the facts.

A new LED side marker light is about $15.00, not counting all the labor and farting around to make it fit the coach.

A replacement bulb for your factory installed lights is about $1.00 The bulb will last about 10 years.

Maybe the LED crowd can tell you why the LED lights are worth the expense which by the time Jerry gets done replacing all his lights will end up costing the price of a new air compressor and the labor to replace it.

Oh drat, we have succumbed partly to the side of LED weenies. Replaced all the side marker lights with LED's from the Lighthouse. The coach rear is still incandescent. Just can't justify the thousand bux needed to order from Mira Loma.
Has anyone tried those LED bulbs for the conventional sockets?

According to the technical weenies (who actually get paid for what they know) all LEDs operate at 1.5 volts. What is required is a conversion from either 12v or 24v to 1.5v. I'd trust Mango on this one. Last I heard from him he was trying to follow Jon through a toll plaza in Illinois; back on the forum in about a week.

And goodness knows, what we will be seeing in the next week (but expect some surprises, heh, heh).

Jim,

I replaced all the rear bulbs with LED that just replace the old bulbs. There is a thread on this with links to the place that sells them. Just search LED's.

They looked brighter and will live infinitly longer. Once you install LED's you'll never go back to the old candle and wick.

I need some real help on lights. My 91 Royale has a "Vanner" panel in the engine compartment proclaiming it is for 12V headlight use only. Are the clearance lights and other lights 12v or 24V? I tried to check the clearance light with a volt meter with no results. Is it a two wire system not using the coach for ground? The coach is in the paint shop getting a new dress. I need to replace the aging sun worn lights to match the new paint. The LED clearance lights from IBP seem to be the way to go there, but which voltage?
Tail lights are next, is there source for some that will fit and with new lenses.
I need to get these items ordered ASAP.
Thanks for any help offered.
Harry

Harry,

My '92 is all 12V for the marker, clearance and tail lights and I'll bet yours is the same. We had the tired looking lenses too and we replaced some and polished some. They look much better now.

While Jon was entertaining a few anal pilots, Jerry and Mango got together to compare LEDs.

It turns out that Mango has installed LED "Neon" under his bus:
http://www.mulelighting.com/ledflex/ ("http://www.mulelighting.com/ledflex/")

Not to feel outdone, Jerry replaced his bathroom faucet with one that lights the water with LEDs:

That's when Mango decided to light his bays with these:

...and to make sure Jerry couldn't keep up, Mango decided to install a $2500 computerized bar:

Let's hope they LED bling thing ends at POGII.

If the like the faucet, then check out these door handles... imagine being able to tell if the bathroom door is locked from down the hall:

Just look out because Jerry is starting to add some LED bling to his toad:

Rae and I were scoping out some bus bling at OSH when we wondered upon a working display. While I was checking it out, she hits the on switch and when the LED's flash, it blinds me. I stumble around the aisle trying to find MangoMike so she could blind him too but all I can see are feet and ceiling fans.

We are taking bling to a whole new level. We may have to issue welding goggles at Santa Fe.

But that LED faucet is too cool.

I'm back and going through the rule book. Somewhere the weenies that were playing at posting in my absence appear to have defined bling as LEDs.

The REAL dissapointment is CObus. Here's a guy that professes to have the killer paint job and some as yet undefined bling, and he caves and gets some LEDs.

What part of being copycats can't you folks understand? If LEDs were standard on our buses when they were built, there would be a mad rush from the forum members to convert their almost bling machines to incandescent. Save it guys. I won. I'm just coming to SF to pick up the award.

Oh Calm down now Jon,
We must not get our nose out of joint and our jockies in a wad, eh?;)
We had the LED's since last year after the fantabulas paint job. It's just icing on the cake. Our S.(ecret) W.(eapon) is far and above better than a few lites. Remember "silver is best" but it doesn't necessarily mean "stainless".:p :D

There are 77 days until the "Bling Explosion", so "all y'all better buy stock in charcoal, the "cooker's R's.:)

When you say silver Winchester is going to be down at Wal-mart tomorrow buying out the silver spray paint for his 8V92 "Silver" thinking he has it made.

I'll bet you have the polished stainless steel engine bolt option kit on yours like I have on mine. That certainly compliments the optional gold plated manifolds.

Don't get finger prints on my grille.

Yep, you're on to us now, bummer! I know I have a big mouth, oh well.
What we did, we had the turbo re-done in "transparent aluminum" with a diamond encrusted turbo blade. LED lites are directed to shine on it with a flick of the a switch. Sparkling!!!!
AND, we added platinum coated valve extensions, and silver-plated the ignition key as well. Oh, almost forgot, we gold-plated the top-hats on the mirrors! It's amazing what you can buy from JC Whitney and Marathon.:D

I wasn't as worried about my interpreting ability as I was the Texan who will claim he is really from OK.

For a week he wore the same shirt that said "OSU" which everybody knows is a school in Central Ohio. He insisted however it meant Oregon State University or some other foreign territory. Lets see what he has to offer on how many syllabbbellls we are allowed to use.

Don't say anymore about bling because he really gets upset.
