Adam DeGraff is the fiddle half of Pianafiddle and, as you know a fairly new member of POG. The piana is Lynn Wright, a former ragtime pianist at the Silver Dollar Saloon in Jackson, WY. I had the pleasure of taking 12 of my neighbors to their concert last night in Longview, WA. Their show is awesome! We were all raving about them on the way home. Adam and Lynn take a well know song and start improvising so they say that they never play it the same way twice. Their repertoire covers everything from classical to bluegrass. They are funny, spontaneous and superb musicians.

Check out their website at http://pianafiddle.com and see if they will be performing in your area.

These guys are TERRIFIC and definitely not to be missed.

Best of luck to them on their tour.

Thanks Beverly for the kind words. But the music was only half of the story. Beverly showed up with a bus-load of friends, minus the bus because Brian is out in Florida dropping one off and picking one up. (Yeah Brian!) But these weren't just your average concertgoers. This was a group of wonderful folks from the area that went out of their way to make us all feel at home. What a nice feeling it was, especially after driving 2800 miles, to have friends in the audience. Team Pianafiddle was so sorry we couldn't take you up on your invitation to hang out today. Thanks especially for the offer to take us up for a flight around the area. (But you know musicians and airplanes don't really have history on their side.) We are now headed to Coos Bay, OR for a Sunday afternoon show. I couldn't resist stopping by Marathon to hook up for the night though:-)

If any other POGers are interested in coming to one of our concerts, by all means email me and I will be sure to leave tickets at the door for you and your guests. If the show is already sold out, you can just meet us backstage and Beni will set you up with a guest badge.

Thanks everybody for all of your help. And Thanks Beverly for packing the house with your friends last night!

All my best,

Adam

And there I was, cooling my heels in Stuart, FL. I missed the Pianafiddle concert true but all was not lost. As many are aware by now, our terrific old 94 Liberty is now in the Truksters bus barn where it will continue to enjoy lots of TLC. After leaving her the other day, I drove to Stuart and am now sitting in our new coach, a 99 Royale that we like a lot more than our money (to quote a well known Tennessee wheeler dealer and auctioneer).

After shopping, negotiating, and buying from the folks at Liberty, I can only say it's been a fine experience. I'd like to thank the Dave's W, Vince,Troy and of course, the Konigseder family for making it possible. Considering the current economic uncertainties it might be a good time to suggest we try and support our erstwhile POG sponsors.

Tried to upload pics. Will try again later.

Hey Adam, I have listened to your clips online and love them! Music has always been a huge part of my life and I would love to see your show. After viewing your tour schedule, for some reason there is not one listing in SC--wah!!!!! That's me whining.....we have some excellent venues in Greenville, Charleston, etc. Any chance you will be adding in some tour dates in our neck of the woods, so to speak?

YEAH! You're going to be in Biloxi on Tuesday, January 27. We'll be there. We go over there once in a while to make a donation at the casinos so we'll coordinate that with your appearance. It didn't say on your calendar where the performance is but I'm sure we still have time to work all this out. I'm sure we'll be bringing friends and/or family along. Would love to meet you and if you need a place to hang out about 3 hours east of there, let me know.

Music sounds great. Although, I don't know too much about the music, I certainly do enjoy it.

If you feel like recording when you are in town I have a full blown recording studio that I would love to share with a fellow POG member.

Our website is: www.victorianrecording.com

I'll bring a some of my music friends to your show. Who knows, maybe a late night jam session???

Debi,
Not sure how SC got left off our list. It's not like we aren't playing all around SC. Next tour, for sure. In the mean time, maybe I can get you some tickets for our show is Gastonia, NC for Friday, January 23rd? It's only an hour or so away from Landrum, isn't it? Or better yet, get in your bus and follow us around:-) We have a good time! (Not in the Rock star sense... in the big road family, always looking for a killer restaurant and a place for the kids to play outside sense!)

In the mean time, call those venues in SC that you want us to come play at, direct them to our website and/or our manager, and no doubt, we'll be just where you want us in a year or two. But really, don't wait that long. Come, catch us on the road somewhere.

Let me know if you want tickets for Gastonia, NC.

All my best,

Adam

Bonnie,
the show in Biloxi is at the Saenger Theater. On our contract, the address shows as 170 Reynoir St., Biloxi, MS 39530.

Looks like a nice, old theater. The only bummer is that it is on a Tuesday night. Guess we can't schedule everybody on weekends.

As we get closer to the show, let me know if I can leave you some tickets.

Looking forward to meeting all you POGers. How cool is this?! I didn't have time to meet y'all at the rally, but instead I'll be driving to meet a good number of you in or near YOUR home towns:-)

We'll have to start asking for additional bus parking.

Best,

Adam

Jasperjr,
nice studio! That is one sweet facility! How is it that I don't know about it? I grew up in Chicago. Where is it? By all means, bring some friends to the show. We have some down time after we play in Waukegan before we head off to Sioux City. Jam session? Absolutely. Ya think you have enough instruments at that studio? That is one amazing gear list. I don't even know what most of it is:-) Hey, since we are talking shop... let me just tell you that this new mic I'm using on my fiddle is amazing. It is a DPA 4061. It looks like a little blip at the end of a wire, but it sounds amazing. Totally captures my violin (1750, Italian perfection) true and clear. We run it wireless to the new Bose L1's. Been getting LOTS of great comments on the sound. We put two of the DPA 4061s in the Piano and run them to another L1 with bass module. It's really working out beautifully. Ok, enough of that. Let's stay in touch.

Best,

Adam

The studio is located in Barrington (northwest suburb) Our clientele are predominantly jazz, blues, gospel and solo artists. There is a lot of gear, in fact so much so, I'm not allowed to make comments regarding shopping habits my wife might have. We are big fans of DPA. We use their 4021 system to record the C7 and they sound awesome.

It's a mix of vintage and new equipment that supports getting the right sound for any type of project. I'm sure we would have no problem getting a sound you would like. At the end of the day it comes down to the player, energy and quality of the instrument. Studios should merely capturing the moment.

I'll certainly bring some folks in from the city to see your gig. Look forward to keeping in touch.

Jasperjr....just curious, has Jeff Golub or his previous group, Avenue Blue, ever been to your studio? Great jazz guitarist with some blues thrown in.

Adam, THANKS! Yes, Gaston is a little over an hour from our farm. I need to check Bob's calendar as he has two trade shows the end of Jan. and first of Feb. Once I find out those dates you will be hearing from me. I hope we can meet you and attend the show!

Greenville has a fabulous performing arts center, "The Peace Center", and they also have the Governors School of Arts. Many of the Universities here such as Furman (director of the Boston Pops, Keith Lockhart, graduated from there) have wonderful concert venues as well. Check out Greenville or Spartanburg for your next tour and I will make a request to these places as well.

Appreciate your generous offer and hopefully we will be able to attend with a couple of our friends!

Debi,
Unfortunately, Jeff has not recorded at my studio. The bulk of my jazz clients have come from Chicago. I've had some folks in from N.Y, but they did commercial soundtrack work and classical recordings.

ok, thanks, just curious...he was our neighbor growing up and as the saying goes, he has come a long way baby! From Copley, Ohio and playing for my younger sister's class in elementary school, to lead guitarist with Rod Stewart and now his solo career. Extremely gifted musician....maybe he just needs to know about your place??? Thanks for replying.
