While fueling the bus a few days ago, I was talking with a truck driver and he asked about the bus. He asked if it was new. I commented that it was some 8 years old and had nearly 100K miles on it.

He asked about the engine and when I replied that it had a Series 60 Detroit Diesel he responded that 100K was just breaking it in.

His former truck had a DD which had 1.3 million miles on it when he sold it. Never had a major repair. He had bought it with "only 600,000 miles" on it.

Claimed his "secret" was just "follow the maintenance schedule"

Just thought I'd pass this along for all those considering a bus but may be concerned about that 100K threshold. If it's been taken care of, it sure seems that it has the potential to go a long, long time.....:)

The only time the mileage on the coach counts is when it becomes a negotiating tool.

Salesmen will brag about low miles to justify a higher price, and the buyer will use higher miles to beat the price down.

The reality is that if we maintain a coach none of us will ever wear one out.
