We are planning a 2 week round/trip from Houston to Scottsdale, leaving Houston Jan 10, 2009 mainly to attend the Barrett-Jackson auto auction, and see my family in Mesa. :)

Anyone else planning on attending this event?

I found out the B-J bought all of the RV park space at Westworld where the event is held, and will be selling those RV spaces on a first registered with B-J, first space available type of scenerio.

If you are interested in attending the rally and need an RV Space at the event campground, ( Electric / Water ONLY, with dump station ) you need to call B-J @ 480-421-6694 and get your name on their list for call back.

Let me know if you are planning on attending, and we can hook up for some cocktails and hou-r-derves.

Gary, here is the park I stayed in last year. It is about 20 minutes from the fair grounds but very nice and quiet. There also is a Indian Casino as part of this property. If you don't mind the drive it is well worth being away from the crowds, and dirt and dust.
There is a Auto auction at the Casino Resort about the same time as Barrett-Jackson, which is nice because it is smaller and has some nice autos.

Thanks Gary De. for the information on Eagle View RV resort in Scottsdale.

We will be checking it out for our stay as well as some others we have seen.

Are you going in 2009 to B-J auction?

Any words of wisdom for me, or rules of caution that you would like to throw my way?

I will be getting a bidders pass, so we will be right in the mix of everything. Supposedly that is the only way to see this auction.

Hi Gary. To soon for me to plan. I'll figure it out this fall although it was a last minute thing last year for me. I believe its best to go the last 4 days and not the first 4 days as I did. The most expensive bidding starts at the end of the week.
I don't know about the bidding Pass. My General admission ticket was fine but I was not buying.

Funny thing about these auctions, you see people getting caught up in it. Bidding up vehicles you could probably find and purchase for less elsewhere. The whole thing has this feeling of Car guy egos and Ringling Bros.

BJ is having its first Las Vegas show in mid Oct. I think I will go. I am getting a bad case of car fever and want to sell the Vette and get something else.

I considered going to LV instead of all the way to Phoenix, ( wanted to do both, but PEG said NO ) :D but I needed to see my family in Mesa, AZ. too, so we have already made reservations at Eagle View RV Resort like Gary D. suggested for the second week of January.

Mike, Post new pictures of your car findings in Vegas.

Gary,

Why are you getting a bidding pass? There is no way that Peg is going to let you buy anything else after the American and the Hummer. Quit dreaming!

Loc, what a pessimist you are???

I hear they have Car Collector Playing Cards that are very affordable ? :D

Besides, when you get a bidders pass, you get invited into the cool areas, where you drink and eat for free all during the event. :)

I just have to remember I can't raise my hand up to ask where the restrooms are, or they just might think I am bidding on that Bugatti on stage. :p
