Well, we got wind that Kenny Z and Janet Z were going to be in Chula-wana this weekend with their Elks group, and that some folk we have never met (Mr. & Mrs. Garner) were down there as well.

We called for reservations earlier in the week but were turned down (before we told them who we were coming with).

Last minute we got a call that there had been a cancellation, so we loaded up for the long journey (bout an hour or so)

When we got here we ran in to long time POG O.G. members Ken & Janet. They confided in us that the Elks group that they recently joined, had already given them nicknames! We of course said we would never tell..

This is "Bling"

And this would be "Ka-Ching" !

Please do not mention these to anyone, it will be our secret....

So any-hoo, we decided to walk to a taco shop in honor of our dear fren, yay-dub. This was a necessity, as neither bus was with toad on this trip... Somehow the directions became questionable, so Bling, Ka-Ching, and the good ship Kelly Jo stopped to get oriented!

We didn't run across the place we were looking for right away, but noted two likely spots for vittles...

We pondered this for quite a bit, and decided to stick with our original Mexican theme..

The Taco plate was mighty tasty indeed-e-o....

Carnitas too!

Well, all were had by a good time, and we had a toast in absentia for our pal Yay-dub.

Tried to get with the Garners later, but couldn't find them, think he was late getting back into the barn.. But all were had by a good time for sure!

The night before, the bluevost-jello clan paid a visit to the Garner's site. Mrs. Garner was sitting outside reading and relaxing, and being that nobody involved here had ever met each other in person, we pretended to be passers by, and walked up admiring the bus.. Talking about how shiny it was and asking how long it was, what kind of engine it had, how much fuel it used etc.

She kept up very well, explaining that it had a v-90 engine etc, and was most gracious. After awhile we revealed our true pog identities and had a good laugh...

After Mr. Garner came home, we happened by and had the same fun all over again, and asked him if he had some way of interfacing with other bus owners! So we got the half hour speech on POG and how wonderful it is, other than occasional bouts of sick humor and mindless pranks, what a great group it is...

It was like hitting a puppy after awhile so we fessed up and had yet another good laugh... There was some question as to if the beans had been spilled prior to our arrival, but I don't think that was the case.... LOL... What fun!

Jeepman,

Nice update.

But there's nothing finer than hitting a taco truck (named: the cowgirls) on the side of the road with JDUB at 7am.

(cuisine hint: if JDUB only spreads a little of that greenny type sauce on his breakfast burrito, don't dump a lot on yours)

Jeepster,

A nice post and good prank. KZ had the same look in the photo as he did when he and Janet returned to Pahrump only to find their bus redecorated in round two.

And sadly, I have not had any good Mexican food since we left Nevada. As we had to leave Pahrump about as fast as we got there, the taco place we hit for breakfast on Friday was not open yet. We were cruising along the highway on the way back to Las Vegas when I make the U turn.

Mike wants to know whats up and I say, "Have you ever had breakfast from the taco truck?"

Before he can answer we are stopped in the middle of the desert at the "Las Vaqueras" taco truck ordering some breakfast burritos. The nice senoritas make us a couple complete with fresh chorizo and as I am strategically placing some of their homemade salsa on my stuff, I look over to see Mr. Happy just pouring this crap on his food.

And before I can utter, "Dude, that $hit will burn a hole in your ass" he wolfs down a big bite. Then he goes to looking for a cold drink. But we all know that when you eat something that grossly hot, only beer or milk will kill the heat. We have neither......

Taco Truck lesson of the day - Look at the salsa, identify the types of peppers, smell it for Scoville Unit scale placement and realize that eating from a taco truck is more dangerous than accusing Jim Skiff of having no gonads.

Jello Jeep: There is a Mexican drive up Kitchen serving Dynamite Chili Verde Pork Burritos out the front window of the place. It's located cati corner in front of the main fire station in Redlands, Ca. My retired fireman hunting buddy said it's been there forever. We stopped there last Aug. and they were terrific burritos. It's on Main St. I think. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Mango Man, I don't envy you having to ride with 7AM breakfast burritos, but you knew what you were getting into when you started out, no?

Yay-dub, I would have given anything to see the look on MM's mug when he ingested too much dynamite sauce... I have over-temped before, but it takes quite a bit. Oh, and by the way, I didn't know that lobsters had nads? :)

Harry, I will look that place up for sure! Let me get this right, you were here last August, and didn't bother to call, say hi, have lunch or dinner.... Nice Harry, real nice...

Jeep: I was in someone elses car headed to Yuma for dove hunting. He was always yapping about how wonderful the burritos were he used to get in Redlands so I made him stop as we passed through. He was suprised it was still there. It was good chili verde burritos to go. I'll bet their other mexican food will be good also. I'm a chiliverde burrito man. The best we have up here is the Acapulco Family resturant on Lincoln in Alameda, CA.
