View Full Version : I Win The Cooker! Maybe..

...OK, I'm driving a stock '98 XLV, no Bling.

The remark I hear is, "Wow, nice bus!"

Do I win the cooker?

Rest of the story:

I forgot to turn off the Whistler and got nailed by a Virginia State Trooper yesterday, who actually said, "Wow, nice bus," followed by, "License and Registration please."

Turns out that they have a radar detector-->Detector and got me on the spot.

There was no chance to negotiate. He turned it off, since it was built-in didn't call the SWAT team.

So now I am $96 poorer.

Oh, he did write down, 'gray' hair and I objected. He was willing to plead the hair thing down to a lesser charge (he recommended 'light blond,' but then I thought he was flirting).

I passed, thanked him, and have arrived at an undisclosed location near Northern Command for the moment.

"Wow, nice bus."

And I thought I would get the cooker.:(

Jeff:
That was mighty good of you to fork over the doe. Did you tell the trooper that you could have bought some bling to win a smoker grill but now you are going to have to eat COLD vienna sausage and beanie weanies.
Micki says Hi to Helen
So does this mean you wont be able to play in the blingy thingy://http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g31/parkwayautoofbristol/black-cup.jpg

Look Jeff, if they gave the award to the most deft BS'er, then Roger or Mike win hands down.

And to get nabbed by a radar detector detector. What pissy luck. I have have taken to just driving the speed limit on the interstate. What will get me are those side roads or speed traps. We have a monster one going south of Dallas on I-45. Dallas County sheriffs have a 6 lane portion of the interstate jacked back to 60mph and are writing tickets as fast as they can stop folks. No reason for the limit other than to provide revenue. Go about 5 miles down the road and it goes to 4 lanes and the limit increases to 70.

Now I might have to punt on those new 80 mph limits in West Texas. Put the hammer down.

When you are in a rural county and get pulled over, there is always the problem of who you might meet.

I hang my head in shame. I should have gone the other way and hung out at Mango Mike's.

Now I am eating cold Vienna sausage and limited to one email. I was gonna email my lawyer, but thought it was best to stay with my pals on POG.

Dedication.

Roger, Roger.

Since the wires are already in place, just more Bling opportunities, after I save up the Lew Bucks to pay the fine. Just when you think you are there, you're not quite there.

Just Plain Jeff,

Take it from me. You don't want to have the ":blonde" label. When it changes color, it goes platinum (white). Around our house, when something goes wrong, it is attributed to a "Platinum Level" Doink!:D

Just Plain Jeff

Whatever color it is, I certainly have a lot less of IT than I did before. Some people say it is a sign of intelligence, but others on this board in the same situation have pretty much trashed that theory.

The original test, which in statistics is called criteria-based referencing, although I suspect he didn't know it at the time, was posited by Dr. Burger King, ah, excuse me, Dr. Anal, and here it is: An 80-year old woman would look at a said Blinged Coach and say, "Wow, nice bus!"

That remains the sole criteria for the highly prized cooker and all its incumbent glories. Once again, the stainless cooker remains with the winner of The Bling, unlike the Anal Award, which is passed along, similar to the Stanley Cup (I really don't want to go much farther down that road at this point), to subsequent winners of the Anal Award. No one has questioned if the AA is to be used by the current holder or not.

So, "Wow, nice bus!" could include a wide variety of items you have mentioned and even perhaps more, including site management, the 'selling' of the bling, let the imagination wander.

Now, my mom is 87, too old for the judging, but she has a keen eye for detail and loves Las Vegas. My grandmother (you can see where this is going), who, may she rest in peace, only died a few years ago. She used to fly from Minneapolis to Vegas as well just to play the slots and see Liberace, a bling kind of guy.

The thing about bling (beginning to sound like a song here) is that there are no rules, as great art cannot be completely verbalized. When you see it, you know it.

Hopefully this short treatise on Bling will be of use.

Roger?

Look out, I've heard that Jerry ordered a gross of the worlds smallest LED's:

I'm very afraid that he might turn himself into part of the bling contest with these.

Ben,

You have uncovered the mother lode of LED stuff. 50 lumens and 12-14v capability; couldn't you have just sent me a PM with the link?

I think the little ones will look good added to the new curb feelers I am installing.

Sorry guys. My coach has so much inherent bling I'm going to win the real SS cooker just because it looks so good.

I will admit to going a little crazy last night and polishing the oil pan drain plug. CO Bus will have to have more than a pretty paint job to beat that.

Chrome is temporary. Real bling is polished stainless. (Do you hear that CoBus?)

If chrome was so good Prevost would build an XL with chrome sides.

Just a little info for all you bling nut cases out there regarding the cooker! I have the Champion and it is great, but it is an oven, not a quick cooker. So if you do burgers (1 hour) if you do steaks (1 hour) if you do fish (1 hour). Never, never light it with the lid closed, a guy on the CC board went to the hospital with bad burns when it blew up.

I bought the tool box grill to replace the Champion and very happy. Sorry Jon, I already have one.. Na na na na na..:D I think whoever wins the award will have to go through a very thorough check out process by the two POG supreme commanders to assure safety. The flame snuffer from Texas can stand by with his commercial equipment in case the bling award explodes.:o

OK, you've been warned, bling away................

Thanks Mike for posting the cooker that Jeff let me use for a few weeks. Actually, it was very dirty when I rescued it and cleaned for an hour. Had trouble getting the proper draft to make it cook properly. Kept blowing out. The tool box is all one needs. Now I know why Parliament is giving it away.

As for bling, I'm sure with all the the suttle changes I made to my coach over the past 3 years, the cooker should be mine but no one needs 2. As a matter of fact, now one needs the award.

As for the "Big Shot" FMCA #, Just like the license plate, $25 and the right place in line. You spelled "Shot" wrong.

Oh, the Mendacity of Lew.

Although his posting is superfluous, it lacks the sufficiency of veracity to sustain further social intercourse on the topic.

If you noticed....I heated the cooker up and the Parliament plack fell off. Sorry. Jeff can give you a pair of his underware that he has with Parliament on all of them. Steve Mitchell told me he did, if you must know.

If you Google "bling" Wikipedia will give you the following:

The culture of ostentatious display of wealth was ingrained in street culture long before the 90's, however: it is thought that wearing expensive jewellery was the one way in which young previously impoverished men, who had acquired riches through crime, could be sure of holding on to their wealth by keeping it about their person. This marks out the wearer of such jewellery as a person with ghetto roots, as it shows that the source of their wealth or their personal prejudices prevent them from investing in more stable assets such as cash in the bank or property. Hence 'bling bling', while widely regarded as a faddish slang phrase, has been seen by some as manifestation of a deeper socioeconomic problem in the US, trivialised by mainstream media and hip hop. For comparison, see chav.

The extreme proliferation of the term into the early 2000s inevitably led to a degrading of its hipness value. With MTV itself even releasing a satirical cartoon commercial in 2004 showing the term being used by a rapper, then several other progressively less "streetwise" characters, then finally by a middle aged white woman who uses the term to describe her earrings to her elderly mother. It ends with the deadpan declaration: "RIP Bling-bling 1997-2004". The clip thus simultaneously recognizes the term's once attainment of an unusual level of popularity while cleverly underscoring the term's perceived aspect of "tiredness" in the current youth culture. Today, it is rare to find a mainstream rapper who uses the term in anything but a sarcastic or joking manner, however the term has become part of everyday vocabulary for the everyday person

Due to this I have spent the past two weeks deblinging my coach as I have never thought of myself as an everyday person.

After all of the orations about trying to bling up their coaches, the jokers who are serious about blinging their rides, are lower themselves to the common street criminals and the like. Some members of PP think that " he who dies with the most possessions and bling, wins".

I have said all along, these coaches are supposed to be a quality far beyond the bauble and beads that some people think is beautiful

It is my opinion that 99% of the POG group will not try to crap up their coach. They are having a lot of fun pulling legs and are trying to egg on their fellow P owners. Wish I could see the old lady judge. She'll b e the bell of the ball.
