POG Rally (TN) - travel questions

We are aiming for the POG rally in TN.

Currently we are in Jacksonville, FL. Our plan it to head to Savannah GA then take I-16 to Atlanta and pick up I-75 to Knoxville.

Any suggestions as to where we should stay in the Savannah area as well as Atlanta?

Are there any places we should consider stopping along the way?

Any significant climbs or construction that we should be aware of?

I don't know how many miles you cover in a day, but we usually do that trip in a day. We take one of two routes.

I 10 from JAX to I 75 to I 40 east, or I 95 to I 26 to I 40 west. The second takes you through a portion of the Smokies and has no city traffic. The first we go right through ATL in the HOV lane. Depending on the time of day ATL can be miserable.

I suggest that whichever route you take that you do a google search for campgrounds near where you plan to overnight.

See if you can hookup with someone and caravan to the rally. I would think there are several planning to come from FL area.

We've done this with the CA group to previous rallies, and have had as many as 7 buses traveling through 3 states together. It's great fun.
