On the return trip from POG UNO, we ran thru a pretty large thunderstorm between Gulfport, MS and Lake Charles, LA. A guy going eastbound called on the CB and asked how far back the storm extended.

I told him to stand by whilst I pulled up the NEXRAD radar from the 396 that was running in the Automotive Mode in the coach. I informed him that the leading edge was about Slidell, LA and it was moving NNE at 25mph.

He then asked how I new that............

This has been a neat unit to travel with. I would highly recomend one for those who are techno-geeky.

Boy am I impressed - that is neat-o- I do recall you telling me about that stuff at the rally. I guess I'll just stick to wearing the Mango cap and let some of that stuff soak in. Jon will tell how to fix your washer. Even add a turbo. Nexrad is far out.

JW,

Very cool, man I love this techno geeky stuff, I may have to arm myself with one prior to the Osh Rally.

Am posting this as I sit in the Shell station filling up the toaster on the way home from DE with my new Air Card. To keep up with WhereisBen.com I'll have to post a review and details at prevoman.com.

Fast Roger - keep wearing the Mango Cap and the "force will be with you."

Side note: I couldn't get on stuff.com at all tonight - kept on getting a Internal Server Error - anyone else receive this?

How about that air card? The only thing better is sitting in your coach posting while your wife drives :D

Yep the other forum was down most of the night. Maybe Lew melted down on it for unauthorized airplane talk?

I also had my headphones plugged into the 396 listening to XM radio. These are a must have for the long haul airline traveler or anyone who has more than two chicks living in his house.

Since I have no pc card slot in my small Mac I have to use the new Kyocera KR1 wireless router. The cool part is that all my kids in the bus can be online together - only using one aircard. It also means that the Winneabago next to me running down the highway can also use it.

What model Bose?

and yes... I am lookin' good today.

The Bose headset is the QuietComfort 2 noise cancelling.

Oh handsome Mango Mike and the Honorable J.W. from the great state of OK with orange blood.

thanks for the pics of the KR1 router- and link to website. While looking for the order page - ouch - found small paragraph - then bulletin board that tells me don't buy if you are using the Verizon PC5740 air card. Speeds of only 10 to 15% of what it should be. Some one is supposedly working on a fix.
Just in case there are other POGs with Verizon Card - heads up -buyer beware- and may the force be with you.
over and out Roger that Fast Roger

Sorry,

I should have been more specific.

The card that works best with this router, and the one I purchased, is the Kyocera KPC650 card (list $79).

One suggestion is to purchase directly thru EVDOinfo as they have much better support than Verizon. Plus they will activate the card prior to shipment so it's plug and play out of the box.

I'm thinking about a Raytheon 26-mile radar Marine stack.

You can pick up ground clutter and 3-D imaging.

We also have this dealie called, dare I say it, a Map.
