I'm about to make a Solo Trip From The Marathon factory.

The folks at Marathon In Coburg Oregon called me on Friday to let me know that all of the upgrades and requested repairs will be finished next week on my coach. They want me to to fly out and test all of the systems, take a ride over to their outdoor resort lot on the Oregon coast for a couple days, and then come back, tweak any issues and of course pay my bill before I leave.

My wife had planned to make this trip with me, but her plans have changed based on family health issues. I will be making the trip back solo.

If anyone has the time and interest in riding along on my maiden voyage, I would welcome the company.

My plan is to head down the coast to I-10 and head back across weaving left and right to say hello to other POG members along the way.

I can be flexible with timing and can plan my trip back in a number of different directions. Lets discuss the details that would be best for this trip.

My goal is to get back in time to head out to the TN. rally with my wife Pam. This is the plan.

I am sure that I would benefit greatly from any of the male POG members who might be willing to educate me on the care and feeding of my new coach, but if Faith Hill is a POG member and is online today it would be a trifecta win for my maiden voyage, and a real valuable education for me.

PS> If anyone is heading this way in their coach and is not towing a Toad behind I can rig my coach with a base plate and tow bar real quick. It might cut your fuel milage back a bit, but you'd sure be the King of The Road.

Thanks,

Bruce

Bruce,
If you are interested in shortening up your trip, come down through Reno. I could ride with you from Reno to Las Vegas to Phoenix.
In Phoenix you can catch I-10.
Coburg to Reno is a good one day drive. I-5 south to Mt Shasta, then 89 to 44 to 395 south into Reno.
Reno to Vegas is 7 hours non stop, Vegas to Phoenix 5 to 6 hours nonstop.
Overnight just outside of Kingman and make the Reno to Phoenix trip in a day and a half.

Bruce,

I would like to make a leg of the trip, what date are you planning to leave Coburg? This would be a great opportunity for me to spend some time in a Prevost. If I can make the dates fit, I'm in!

Hello Jim,
That sounds good. I had made my original plans to head back based on an earlier time frame and wanted to avoid the higher elevations back in Feb, but now your right, It would make for a much better trip. I wanted to stop in place called Trukee Ca. They have some sites for sale up by Donners Pass, have you ever been there??

As for dates, I will contact Marathon and see when they will be done this week. If we are good to go, I will haed out by the weekend arriving Sunday night 9th. Settle up with Marathon the 10th and go over to Out Door Resorts on the coast for two days and shake down the coach. back to Marathon on13th and hopefully hit the road for Reno on the weekend, lets say Saturday the 16th. We can fill in the details later.

Hello Tuga,

Check out my time table for leaving in Jim's post. I plan on getting an air mattress anyway and if you guys don't mind the sleeping arrangements we can work this out. The more the merrier.

Bruce,

I could meet you in Phoenix and ride with you the rest of the way on I-10 and jump off in Lafayette, LA. My daughter lives there, and she could pick me up and give me a ride back home (Houma, LA).

When your plans firm up let me know the date that you will be in Phoenix.

It may be easier to communicate via cell phone or email. My email address is tugagaidry@bellsouth.net and my cell phone is 985 381 6613.

Bruce,

Loc owes us all a BBQ dinner, so if you and your escort get thru Houston, we are always looking for a chance to spend the LocBucks.

And I would like to see the upgrades Marathon did to your coach. I have recently upgraded the GPS / Audio / Backup Camera system in our Marathon, so I am interested in what they are doing.

Hi Bruce,

We are currently in Phoenix (Surprise, AZ) and plan on continuing east on I-10 on the 15th. You will catch up with us at some point I'm sure, especially if we visit all the taco joints JDUB has recommended. Give us a call when your approaching El Paso. We will probably spend a little time at the Hacienda RV Park in Las Cruces. Cell 360 921 4476.

By the way have you installed a brake system in the Vue yet? Will send a PM with details if you have an interest in getting an M&G while in Eugene.

And Harry, if you're at Beaudry's, this is fair warning of an invasion.

I plan on being in Phoenix around the 19th if all goes well, El Paso by the 20th ??? will call and look you up.

I did install a brake in the Vue, went with the Blue OX, took the easy way out for now.

That would be great, look forward to meeting you. I am not sure when we will be there. Plan to hook up with Brian in the El Paso area, I'm sure we can find our way.

I'd be glad to show you the upgrades. The list is reasonably long with lots of redos from the original build, redid the slideout with new improved parts, hydraulics, air, audio, waste system, paint, headliner, Floor, Prevost Recalls, they really had at this coach. the list goes on and on. It should be an interesting result. I'm a nut for new, or making things as close to original as possible when I have a good platform to work with.

JDUB,

The thread cop is going to nail us for this. But does this look familiar?

Brian,

I was told the M&G will not fit the Vue or the Outlook. What's your secret?

Lew, I'm sure you're right about the Outlook. I was told the air intake tube is in the way. The Vue is a tight fit and the coolant reservoir had to be removed during the install. No modifications were necessary.

Bruce,
Truckee is a 40 minute ride West on I-80 from Reno. We can drive up there in my car when your in Reno or take the bus. A decent place to stay overnight in Reno is the Grand Sierra Resorts RV park. Formerly the Reno Hilton.

Hi Jim, Is Truckee worth the stop? It looked like an interesting spot for some higher elevation camping. I'll definitely stay at your recommended park when I get into town.

I'll give you a heads up when I head out to Coburg.

Bruce,

Are you still heading into Southern CA, so we can get the local guys to meet and say hi?

Jim has me heading over to Reno so that we can meet up with Shania Twain and Faith Hill. I was impressed by Jim's friends. He and I will head over to Vegas then on to Pheonix. Hopefully we can hook up in April in TN rally. If you guys are heading toward Vegas or Pheonix around the 18th or 19th we could meet then. I had planned on picking Tuga in Pheonix and carry on back east.

I'm sorry we'll miss you. I don't believe any of the CA folks are going to be able to make the TN rally.

Safe travels.

If Shania & Faith want to sleep in a real bed, instead of the blow up mattress, I will follow along to make that accommodation. I would not do this for just anyone, so consider it my official HOWDY. :D

Hello Warren,

Shania has her own Marathon, and have been told that she is very handy with tools and mechanical things based on the reports from Marathon. Faith will be riding along, but Jim's in charge of this rally. Your offer is generous and I am sure sincere.
