I know there have been previous discussions about the availability of Delo 400 oil, and there are not many places in Pensacola that sell it. I did notice that our Sam's Club has just started stocking it, so that may be true of Sam's in other locations.

The Delo 400LE (Low Emmission) is $56.88 for a case of 6 gallons ($9.48 gal). Of course, this won't affect the serious maintenance guys who buy their oil by the barrel.

Dale,

When using Delo 400LE how often (miles) do you change the oil?

I use Mobil Delvac 1, and I am changing my oil every 15,000 miles. I can't remember how much I am paying for it, but it ain't $9.48 per gallon.

IMO that Delvac is the best oil you can get for a 4-stroke diesel.

Around 10 bucks a gal is about right.

I have heard that the straight weight oil that DD is putting their name on is Delvac. I've been meaning to check that out cause the multi grade stuff is hands down superior stuff.

So Dale.....what are you buying oil for? Last everybody knew you sold your bus and were looking, did you find one?

Joe,

I am a little confused; the Mobil Delvac 1 is $25/gallon (I just checked my cost) not 10 bucks a gallon. Are you saying that you can buy Mobil Delvac 1 for $10/gallon?

Dale, You are right. I don't have a bus, but I have a huge pit. Just saw the oil and thought I'd pass on the info to everyone that does have a bus.

My mistake

You must be running synthetic. Never ran that in the engine on a diesel. Thought it too costly when I can run conventional Delvac on 10000 mile intervals.

Not to say I would not do it if we had the cash though.

Yes Joe, I am running synthetic. That's what Newell recommends, so that is what I run. I have run Mobil Delvac 1 (synthetic) 5-40 in all 3 of my coaches since 1992. I change the oil every 15,000 miles and so far: no problems.

Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding of your statement.:D
