Today I replaced my first windshield. It took one hour to remove and replace it and a second hour to seal it and replace the welting.

By myself.

It is easy but messy. Now that I know the next time I am going to mask a wide area outside the rubber moulding before I start to greatly simplify cleanup. These are the things we learn I guess.

I'll write a lttle blurb and see if the webmaster can put it under information sharing.

Don't forget the part where you blast heated the sand into a liquid and floated it in a blow up kiddie pool to make the glass. :D

Were there any photos? OR as Lew would call it, evidence?

I was all ready to start taking photos, but after pulling the welt out and pushing the glass out I realized the rubber molding and the old windshield had this black sticky crud all over it.

From that point on it was on my hands (and still is) and no solvent or soap I have dissolves or removes it. I wasn't going to try to handle the camera with that crud literally all over me (and the bus I might add.)
