XLI and XLV coaches have seams which are sealed with a formula of clay and turpentine (not kidding about this). Given the right circumstances, such as an approaching cold front and wind-blown rain, just about any coach will leak, somewhere on the roof...perhaps enough to be noticed on the inside.

I ran into one of the two guys who sell SOB coaches once who actually knew what he was talking about and am offering some tips: (Which include H3-45 and XLII coaches as well)

Make sure to inspect your roof regularly. Most caulking around fans, vents, antenna and the like really should be replaced every two years. This doesn't mean knocking off the loose stuff, losing interest and doing something else.

It means getting all the old caulking off and putting new caulking on. Use self-leveling caulk, the really gooey stuff. Put it over where the old caulk was in a slightly criss-cross fashion. And don't be cheap about it.

As for the side seams on an XLI or XLV, one guy suggested a slight soaking of turpentine where there was no paint to ruin to help keep the seams fresh and resist dryness.

So there you go.
