Racor Fuel Filters

While trying to order a new element for my Racor model 1000 FG I was asked if I wanted a 2,10 or 30 micron filter. I didn't know options like this were available. Anyone have advise ?

Jim, the answer depends on whether your coach is set up with the Racor as a primary or secondary filter.

If It is primary I would go with 30 micron, a smaller size if it is used as a secondary.

Mine is primary and I opt for 30, but will use 20 if not available.

I'm not sure I would go below 10 for a secondary unless I knew for sure it would provide the necessary fuel flow for extended full throttle application such as going up long hills. That depends on the size of the filter element and the micron size.

I just looked up the specs on the 1000FG and as a secondary you can go down to a very small micron size (2 for example) and it will still flow 180 GPM so as a secondary you can get really fine. My guess however it is used as a primary.
