Black Hills, SD Campgrounds

We are going back to the Black Hills this summer. This will be our third trip. We have stayed in two different campgrounds, but haven't been that impressed. Has anyone been to the area that can recommend a good campground?

Loc, we stayed in Rapid City, south of town 3 or 4 miles. it was not bad but that was 5 years ago so a lot of changes go on in that amount of time. I think you can call one in the area and they will tell you.

Great place to stay is Elkhorn Ridge outside of Spearfish. It is 1/2 mile south on US 85 from the junction at I-90 east of Spearfish. All paved sites, no bothersome trees. Quick trip into Deadwood if you want to contribute a bit to the local economy. Definitely eat at Midnight Star (Keven Costner's restaurant) in Deadwood. Nice drive down US 85 to Rushsmore, Crazy Horse, Rapid City. Easy trip over to Devil's Tower in Wyoming. Cool evenings.

In fact, it would easily accomodate POG4 plus some extras.:)
