Is anyone aware of a way to turn up the output voltage on a Xantrex Invertor or if there is a need to when it is putting out 108.5 volts as compared to 119/120 when on Gen or Shore Power. Installed a new Ceiling fan in the bedroom and noticed that it has a hum to it on Invertor power and quiet on Gen power or Shore Power. Have also notice clicking noises once in a while with the microwave when on Invertor power. So I did a voltage test off an AC socket and this is when I discovered the low voltage. Research is saying most appliances operate on the 108 - 124 range. Just wondering what kind of voltage others are seeing off their invertors and if this is something i should be concerned with or if it can be turned up. Manual doesnt say anything about it i can find.

Are you using a "true RMS" voltmeter? I just learned this not long ago on the POG FB forum. My inverter voltage readings were similar to yours without true RMS meter.

Definitely, you MUST use a True RMS meter.

Thanks Guys. Ill see what my electrician buddy can measure for me. Im guessing based on that article of Gils that it is a reading issue as my meter is not an expensive one. Its an orange Home Depot Klein Tools meter so i think its probably where it should be. Humming ceiling fan is likely not a critical issue.

What about the fan buzz and the bad hum from the microwave not to be discounted.

My micro is a little louder and so is a fan we run at night - when on inverter power. I figgad it was just the modified sine-wave thing that can make motors a little less happy than shore or generator.

His Zantrax is not a modified sine wave.

The Xantrex 458 is a MSW inverter. The side by side I referenced before was a Xantrex 458.
